Fun Times in Cancun
Just spent a week in Cancun - kids had a great time. Stayed at the Ritz Carlton. First class - great service and food, great view from our room. Word of warning - Cancun is no longer the cheap vacation it was years ago. The street vendors and bars are taking full advantage of the gringos!
From our room on the 5th floor: ![]() ![]() Our Son Boogie boarding - he is that small dot in the blue. The waves were OK but the undertow was rediculous. The storm took out a bunch of beach last year. ![]() Went Parasailing - very fun. They didn't strap us in! ![]() Ya have to rent a Waverunner. Our Son was jumping waves with this one with me on the back screaming like a camp girl! Had to take it slow in the harbor... ![]() Our Lil one jumping in the pool - great for kids and adults alike... ![]() This summer should be fun - next stop; the farm in Iowa for 2 weeks, then the shore of Connecticut for a week then Hawaii for 2 weeks then its back to School!

Wow, that looks like my kind of vacation.
I hope that farm in Iowa isn't under water.

Very nice,
I have also noticed prices in Mexico are up to the point they are about equal to anywhere else in the world. Animal Planet had an interesting "Crocodile hunter" episode on Cancun... good thing you didn't see it before you went.

Great pics, Mike! Must have been fantastic!
You look at least as happy as your kids - and I must say you are something of a looker! The local women must have been all over you, offering all kinds of services from b-jobs to marriage. You didnīt feed your wifes suspicious mind, now did you??

Parasailing in Mexico, your a brave man. My wife and sis in law went in Nassau a couple of years ago and you could not get me in one of those. I would not trust those guys at all, I was pretty pissed at my wife for going up in it and figured I would probably be in the dating scene again real soon.
I was also bummed out to hear your not allowed up on the pyramid in chichen itza anymore, and they limit where you can go in there, when I was there 14 years ago you could walk into any dark tunnel, we had planned on going back one day with flashlights and explore a little deeper into them, now they are chained off. I would imagine Cancun is 10X the tourist trap is was when I was there 14 years ago and it was one then too. The kids drove me nuts trying to tie "free" bracelets onto me then demanding money. My friend fell for it and had to pay up, I would not let them grab my wrist, I was amazed they were out at 4 in the morning doing this. The area around there is very beautiful. I wondered how it all fared in the recent storms though.

I don't think that Mexico is generally cheap if you go to any of the vacation resort locations. I think that you have to get off of the beaten path.
One place that I think would be great as adults would be Sayulitas. I drove through it once. It was a great looking little place. I think you could hide there and no one would ever know it.

We wanted to check out the ruins but it was 1+ hours away and I didn't think the kids would fair well. It was 90+ and they would much rather swim and such.
The parasailing did freak me out when I heard the rope stretch and the U bracket start to make noises. Our Son made mention that the line they used was not much didfferent than the one our neighbor snapped when he tried to pull a shrub from his front garden. Markus - thank you! Yes I am a handsom devil aren't I! As for straying, the other day as I got out of the shower my wife met me on her knees and proceeded to 'surprise' me old school. Can't say I would have expected that in 100 years but if she keeps gobl'n, I'll remain true!
