at some level, target shooting requires a true target gun; at other levels, most guns can be accurized

and of course, there is always pleasure in a tool made well for a particular job.

My 911 far surpasses my capabilities as a driver...just like all of my "out of the box" pistols, and I've never given a rat's behind about putting a bullet through the same hole...just not my thing. Snowman would probably shun my Colt Diamondback 6" .22lr, but most would recognize a quality firearm when they shoot one even if it doesn't put 6 bullets through the same hole :)

Good gun, just not any fun, like a vw beetle.

I have pictures of targets shot at 220 yards using a muzzle loading rifle that put 11 consecutive shots, each touching each other in the shape of a "W," using iron sights in an area the size of a 50 cent piece.

Dang...I reckon I haven't had a bit of "fun" with it the past 27 years, I just never knew until now :). Personally, I've never been to an indoor range and only shoot holes in paper to zero in scopes, and I can't think of anything more "unfun", but to each his own. I've got an uncle (used to guide in Alaska years ago) who long ago lost interest in hunting with his Weatherbys and opts for his Hawkins .50 ca blackpowder and compound bows instead...different strokes. If I don't hit what I'm aiming at, I sure can't blame my "tools of the trade"...

Sorry to hear that you do not understand guns and how they work. It is a science. Unless you understand the science you probably will not shoot well. Even the real old timers understood the science, thats part of why some of them could shoot so well with what looks like a piece of junk. If you luck out and happen to have a gun tuned to your happenstance, it is just luck, not skill. Skill requires understanding every single thing about a gun, including the science. That plus a little manual dexterity and good eyes will make you a great marksman.
