Aren't they aiding-and-abeting the perpetration of a crime (moving violation)?

There is a good reason for it...
I know this is true from personal experience.

"The reason for the law is to help keep traffic moving and to diffuse potential road rage situations.

"It just takes one thing to set them off," Leary said of frustrated drivers stuck behind slower moving vehicles. "If we can alleviate one of those things, maybe we can avoid an assault.""

I've wanted them to enforce this for a long time. Hopefully, it will hit all the news outlets so the cell phone crowd will move over.

It's about ******* time. This has got to be one of the worst traffic problems in the Seattle area. It's known as the "boulder in the stream affect" by traffic engineer and traffic manager types. The flow of traffic backs up behind the slow moving car, and has to part to move around it. Literally just one car steadfastly camping in the left lane, moving slower than prevailing traffic, can cause miles and miles of backup. They tend to be either completely clueless and unaware of what is going on behind them, or they are just self rightous enough to have appointed themselves as erstwhile traffic cops. Just my opinion, but they appear to me to be far more dangerous to more people than speeders. I'm glad they are finally getting theirs. I just wonder how long it will last.

It's a problem everywhere. Most of the automotons out there probably don't even know it's illegal. Slower traffic should be keeping right.

Nice... so if I'm accused of driving aggressively, I can legitimately blame it on the slowpokes!!!

I'll agree with everyone else that it's about time. The worst is when I'm stuck behind someone who passes a "Stay right except to pass" sign and STILL doesn't move over.

Slower traffic move right, or you get a ticket. Too slow in the right lane for what is reasonable and safe you get a ticket. Double ticket if you are on a cell phone and quadruple if you are texting. Simple.

It's pretty easy to understand how drivers might be unaware of requirements like staying right except to pass, and also the prohibition against using the passing lane when your vehicle is pulling a trailer or is over 10,000 GVWR........since signs that say this are posted only about every two friggin' miles!

+1 on all the above.

Anyone notice that almost no one understands that a flash of the headlights from behind means MOVE OVER? More times than I can count, I've come up behind a slower moving vehicle and flashed my brights nicely (several times) and the maroons just sit in the left lane. Even when I then go around on the right and glare at them do I get a glimpse of understanding.
Clueless (and not just in WA).

excellent !

I live in Oregon, used to live in Washington. This is a big problem,Washington drivers driving through Oregon will not get out of the "Passing Lane" no matter what.
Last week Washington made it Illegal to drive while talking on a Cell phone, now this.
Maybe there is hope for driving in the USA.
