In today's world, you don't. Anyone hit would call the cops, then sue. I would, I think. Depends on if I deserved it. I haven't been punched since high school, 45 years ago. That doesn't mean I've been close to delivering or receiving. Usually it just becomes two bulls pawing the dirt.

There are many much better ways to do a lot more damage and I've mastered a few.

Pretty much agree with Milt above.

I will not hit anyone unless its for my own protection or the protection of others, and in that case I will not discuss options online.

"Punch an a-hole"?

Is this an expression for something else?

Somehow I made it through fifty one years without having to punch anyone.. I guess being a big kid helped.

I have wanted to a few times, but you never know it the other person (of a nearby friend of that person) has a knife or a gun... and then there is the thing that even if you win you might get sued or thrown in jail.

I have done a lot of crazy/stupid stuff in my life but fighting never was on the list.

I was trying to do an electrical repair once and had bought a metal electrical box thingy that wires go into and come out of. The salesman told me the repair I was about to attempt would be easy.

Well, there was a hole on top where the wires go in and on the bottom there was what looked like what was supposed to be three holes that had the letters A, B, and C stamped on them, but they were closed off with metal.

I called the hardware store to talk to the salesman and his manager answered the phone and told me he was out to lunch. I said,"Tell me about it. He told me this would be easy!"

He asked me what the problem was and when I told him he started laughing and told me if he was me he'd punch out the A-hole.

Not wanting to resort to violence, I chilled out and called an electrician to finish the repair.

Oh good times. Have not clocked anyone since college. Back during my kick boxing days....;-)

Now we are adults, and have to focus on walking away.
At work it is a different thing. If you are in a leadership role, you can work around or get ride of jerks as needed. Funny thing is, at work if you think someone is a jerk, it is typically understood by most that that person is a jerk (so nothing is required)...

Punched no. Not since college.

I have had a few 'direct coversations' with guys where I made it clear I had no problem stepping outside. But I think the legal/safety risks are to great to get in fight.

Closest I've ever come was when my daughter was around 2 years old... and it was a woman that I almost dropped in a grocery store parking lot!

I came out of a the store with my daughter in a cart. As I stepped off the curb a car came from my left at a high rate of speed. I stopped. The car stopped abruptly and the woman driving motioned me to cross. I smiled and motioned her to go. She turned left down the same lane where I was parked. As I started putting my groceries in the car I realized she was backing up from across the lot... we're talking the distance of 15 cars or so. She rolled down the passenger side window and asked me if I had a problem. ??? Uh, no. Why do you ask? She said I was "eyeballin'" her as she drove across the lot. ??? Uh, no. I just walked to my car.

She became more and more irate with no provocation from me. It was becoming clear that she was disturbed in some way or on something. She got louder and louder and began cursing, screaming, etc. Several folks in the parking lot stopped and tried to calm her down. That seemed to make her more irate... she got out of her car, slammed the door and started coming around the back of her car toward the vicinity of my daughter, who was still in the cart. At this point I'm thinking if she takes about two more steps she's going to be sorry. One of the woman who had stopped ran up to her and in a calm voice said, "You need to get back in your car." I took advantage of her being occupied to put my daughter in the car. The woman kept screaming, but finally got in her car and drove away. The six or so people who had gathered were all shaking their heads in disbelief.

I sat in my car for a few minutes afterwards thinking about how close I had come to punching a woman in the face. I think with all of the witnesses to her freaky behavior there would have been no question that it was justified. Still gets my adrenaline flowing just thinking about it.

One time I was going to a soccer match at the Home Depot center with some British friends. A car full of guys next to us in a nice Mercedes started making fun of my British friends telling them that Chelsea was going to loose.

They did not know that my British friends are really ballers, and one was even a famous hooligan back in the day (I will not go any further into this one) but 10 years ago, he would have gotten out of the car and kicked the s&*^ out of the both of them.

One thing I have learned, there is always some one who is stronger or crazier. Learn to let it go.

Always surprises me that some people have never had a fight or two under their belt, no matter now small or early in their life. Were you able to avoid all conflict even at a kid, in the playground, in high school, at bars, at Frat parties, etc.... Sometimes you cannot walk away... Even the Karate Kid had to deal with it...

Just curious. I find most east coasters have dealt with these situations and met it head on.... Is this a Porsche guy thing???

Not since freashmen year of Catholic high school.

For no reason in particular the kicker on my football team absolutely hated me. I never made fun of him, stole his girl, or keyed his car. This dude just wouldn't leave me alone. So once during a mandatory study session after school all hell broke loose. I am not one to stand down, then again I like to avoid conflict. He was behind me in a desk and threw an empty water bottle right into the back of my head. I slowly got up and walked to his desk. By this point everyone is standing up ready for a fight.

I can throw a punch, but not nearly as well as I can kick something. I had been playing soccer since I was a kid in NJ.

He is about the same size as me, I push him over a backpack on the ground and a few swift kicks to the ribs and the fight is over. Coach broke it up. Needless to say he was furious.

I never not once got made fun of by anyone after that.

Proud of it, nah?
Glad I got rid of a problem, definitely.

If the A-hole lines up with your work fine, if not then punch out the B-hole or C-hole if necessary. Most junction boxes give you the option.
