Yes, he very well might sidestep his culpability. His news story clearly blamed DOT for holding up the bridge section. He did not deny this in our personal conversation but sure, he might deny it in talking to you. I saw his presentation on TV. You didn't. He might fool you. He knew he wasn't going to fool me.

Of course. In the Bizarro World, left is right, and liberal is conservative.

![]() I recall another Schramm story from when I worked at L&I. We had a large space in the basement of the L&I building that was vacant. The local YMCA asked if they could lease the space, and L&I agreed. It became a satellite YMCA facility. The public could, and did, use the facility. L&I workers needed to join YMCA in order to use the exercise equipment. L&I made a few bucks on the lease payments using a vacant space. YMCA had a satellite facility. It was a win/win. Along comes King-5 News. They did a story that made it sound like L&I workers were gifted with a Health Spa at the gubmit's expense. Completely untrue and mischaracterized. Thanks, Ken.

DOT wanted to get this truck moving in the worst way. It was in violation of load limits and everyone was aware of that. I know, and Mr. Schramm knew, and I suspect you know, who was at fault here. Washington State load limits are not secret. They are a matter of public record. This trucking company thought they could slip under the radar with an out-of-compliance load. Same on them. Shame on Schramm.

I've got no issues with that particular story. Island, perhaps you take the position that employers can prohibit their workers from voting?

It was just a sample so people would have a clue as to who the guy is ....his style. ...his Schrammie.
![]() btw, I find it very telling that you expect Lib's to always cover for gubmint spending. I mean Ken likes gubmint . . .he just gets pissy when idiots flush funds that could otherwise do some good.

That truck is doing far more damage sitting in one spot than the extra 30k lbs. ever would rolling down the road....but then common sense doesn't play in government decisions. Ridged bureaucracy reigns supreme. Government is supposed to wok FOR the people, do you think the people want that truck to move or sit?

And here's the government official "working HARD to get this truck moving again"
" Big Boat Movers of Zavalla, Texas, the trucking company hired to haul the steel and neoprene component, can resume only after complying with state requirements, possibly by spreading the weight over more axles than the 21 now on the 149-foot trailer, Nicholas Hopper, a spokesman for the patrol's Commercial Vehicle Division, said Thursday. "They're going to have to figure that out," Hopper said." He sounds real concerned ![]()

Another thing we disagree on is Mr. Schramm's view toward gubmit. In my experience (here I have offered two glaring.....and dishonest.....and irresponsible.....examples), Mr. Schramm prefers to attack the easiest targets...gubmit. No, I have never been a member of a group to which he has awarded a Schrammie. As far as I know. But I have watched him deliberately mischaracterize gubmit organizations on many occasions for his personal and professional gain. I consider Mr. Schramm to be a HUGE part of the problem.

A variance would be a good option, if a variance process is available to the parties. If a variance process is available, I was very confident that DOT and State Patrol staff were providing that information to the trucking company. I know those agencies, and they work hard. If they were not looking into a variance process, it's because there isn't one. If there isn't one, then we would look to the legislature for that. There is no scenario that would indict the State Patrol or the DOT for their role here. Of all the parties involved, those two agencies were the ones that were certainly not at fault. They don't make the laws, and they also don't break them. If Schramm wanted to go after somebody with plausible culpability here, he would have gone after either the trucking company.....or the legislature. And quite frankly, the organization that messed up in this instance was the trucking company. Almost predictably. They broke the law. Or tried to.

Like I said, ridged bureaucracy takes precedent over common sense.

I........I suppose......okay, I guess it's just possible.......experimentally.......to attempt using common sense in gubmit decision-making. I doubt it would work but heck, it's worth a try.

How about this: [ring ring ring] "Hello, this is the Governor" "Hi, this is commissioner azzlick from the DOT. We have a problem down here and no one has the man stones to make a decision. Can you sign a quick executive order on this to save the State 100k a day?"
