Shaun @ Tru6 07-01-2008 03:26 PM

I am most active on the Classifieds, moreso than OT.

Sadly, my last substantive post on Technical:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/354578-early-engine-bay-electrical-panel-restoration.html

no time to work on the cars, hoping to seam weld the E tub this August and post that, not much in Technical on the subject...it will most likely be November however. :(

Dropping the motor on the S this weekend and moving that thread forward:

My restoration project has been in mothballs for 2 years...so the Tech board is less interesting to me right now.

And the Tech board lacks the name calling and girl pics... the lifeblood of the internet.

Consider yourself lucky. IMO, if you want a comparison to the tedium of the Left vs. Right arguments in OT, I suggest discussing CIS pop-off valves for about 5,000 posts.

So, I guess what this thread is really about is those in OT have the reliable Porsches and are well-schooled on the mechanicals of the car.

It's good to be among wise and successful souls. :D

A 5000 post thread on pond scum would be more interesting than the endless American political threads. Add to that the obsessive gun threads, religious threads, the growing number of hate threads & anything that Mule posts.

If you say so. :D

I am sorry. It was such a surprising ending of that meaning I almost fell of my chair. Too funny!

Although, personally I have grown rather fond of Mule lately. Nice man!

Hope you donīt take that as an insult, Mule. SmileWavy

I am mostly a tech guy posting in the 944 forum on timing belts and such.
I come here looking for world news. There has been plenty of times I have heard things here first before other alternatives (news paper, TV etc...)

Speedy:)

This winter, I have rebuilt my motor and spent quite a bit of time on the engine rebuilding forum. It is a little different than the tech forum: much less frequented, but lots of very good advice and hardcore wrenchers there. I used to spend more time in the ppot forum, but I realized that arguing on internet is like yelling in space, so I used my energy to more constructive passtimes. I still read the threads, but do not participate much in the debates. I also think it has become a bit boring since Fastpat is no longer here.

I check it a couple times a day, but typically only post on occasion as my car is pretty well fixed up for the moment.

I answered a question that Souk asked once--I consider my Tech forum days complete. :)

KFC911 07-02-2008 09:32 AM

I too started out mainly in the tech section, learning lots in the the early days of DIY, but lately I haven't had the need to ask many questions so I just try to help pass along what I've learned to others. I still check the tech section first thing, and then come over to OT to see what Mule has to bray (stolen from a recent post) about Obama, and to learn how liberal and ignorant I am :). Seriously, I tire of the politics (not my thing at all), but I generally find intelligent, yet different perspectives from my own, and there's not a day that goes by that I don't learn something here. That's my rationalization anyway, the real answer: "it's addictive"!

sand_man 07-02-2008 09:44 AM

I mostly post in the tech forums (911 Technical and the 911/930 Turbocharging forums). As for OT, I generally lurk and only make an occasional post. I don't consider myself an "OT guy"...so maybe I shouldn't even have answered this thread...:D

IROC 07-02-2008 09:54 AM

I used to only post in the Tech forum for probably the first couple of years on Pelican. I still post there and "auto-x/racing" on occasion, but I don't post there unless I really have something of value to add to a thread.

widebody911 07-02-2008 09:58 AM

I used to be, but I hardly ever drive the 911 any more...

Tobra 07-02-2008 10:10 AM

That is a shame Thom

Why? If you don't mind my asking.

I hardly go to the track anymore, which is another reason I'm not in the Tech or Auto X and Racing forums so much these days. Admission and gas (mostly race gas) adds up to over $300, which is a little too dear for a day of fun.

Buckterrier 07-02-2008 03:32 PM

I started on the tech threads as I am no mechanic what so ever, although just did my first valve adjustment yesterday, :D (with help).
Started lurking here then posting. Is a rough crowd, have been threatened with physical harm, (you know who you are ;) ), and of course been called a pussy etc etc, as just about everyone has I suppose. But a WHOLE lot of knowledge & diversity here and on the techs.

David 07-02-2008 04:04 PM

I think I'm just as active on the 911 and 930 forums.

I was talking to an old friend a few months ago that I don't see very often. He's also a Pelican. I started to describe what I'd done the 930 lately. He said he already knew and that he'd been keeping up with it. He said he follows Pelican but doesn't post very often. It got me wondering how many folks are out there following our rants that don't participate.
