				Migratory game birds

Now that the squirrel (no bag limit, year round season) population is somewhat down, there is another enemy. I did bag a squirrel today and they were/are enemy #1, but there are fruit trees that need protection, which are intended for consumption. The birds have my attention There is a white wing dove population needing to be reckoned with, and I know I can't pop their a$$ because the season is over. But, they taste so good! I'm trying real hard not to, and have been putting up with this for at least a year. I need permits from TPWD. Thanks for letting me think this through, and vent.

Early dove season starts in late August around here... don't think we have whitewings tho - just mourning doves. Take a breast, put a slit next to the bone, stuff a slice of jalepeno in there, wrap with bacon, throw on the grill.... mmmm....

My favorite recipe for dove: Beretta 391 1oz of 8's (7 1/2's if windy) @ 1300fps + Comfy chair in the shade Bag of sunflower seeds (how appropriate is that!) Call in sick After returning home: Little salt, little pepper, few minutes on the grill Such a good problem to have!!! I hear Tx is just mecca for dove.

my friends own dairies! when they outlawed lead shot for ducks we used them on pigeons. they used to let us run among the cattle blasting pigeons. when those things hit the ground it was like a beanbag. they are huge. we trained a labrador to fetch among the cows, and after awhile the cows didnt even notice the dog. they taste exactly like a dove. country pigeons only. no downtown city birds..
