Better day today, in terms of my numbers - a little on the higher side, but I am eating far less food to keep my glucose levels in the normal range. Given yesterday's and last night's carb intake, I can see how people who get on the pump start to gain lots of weight...

It is not bad at all. I feel the sticky tape that is affixed to my body more than the cannula that's actually inside my body.

Edited - Paul's post & pics explained the setup better. -Z

I woke up every two hours all by myself just to test and make sure. On the forth night, I finally slept through the night. That was a great sleep.

It will take a while to get used to the settings and your doctor or CDE will be making minor tweeks for years to come. But, you will eventually become adept at working, tweeking and living with your pump as well.
Paul - thanks for the encouragement. It is good to see that my doc and I have already made some adjustments and are getting dialed in better. I am not discouraged by last night's numbers -- it amazes me how much the change in delivery makes. (continuous vs. long acting insulin) In terms of Basal insulin, before, I was taking 41 units of Lantus (a 24-hour insulin) - now, my total Basal for 24 hours is down to 36 units, and it may go smaller...

We'll see what tonight brings...

Insurance is ok with the pump, and the 24-hour sensor is ok, for now. (I think I slipped in just before they closed that door temporarily)
