I'd also like to know how a city can shield an undocumented person from deportation. They say he was charged before with felonies. Those are state matters. Deportation is a Federal matter. How does a city physically prevent the Feds from coming in and taking someone away?

But yeah, there were obviously mistakes made by not deporting him on his previous felonies.

Gang member or not, why is the city in the business of providing sanctuary to illegal immigrants? Does SanFran receive federal funding for any projects? Perhaps "we" should cut "them" off.

Finally, an idea about how to deal with illegals that we can all live with:
Ship every single illegal alien in California to san francisco. They'll all fit, we just might have to stack them 3 or 4 high. Then lock the gates and throw away the key and declare san francisco an independent country, no longer part of the US.
Basically disown the freaks and the illegals at the same time. I like it.

SF Sanctuary status has been in place since 1989, its not a new phenomenon. In 20 years, "illegals" have not destroyed the city, Spanish is not the official language, the sky has not fallen.

Its truly unfortunate what happened, but city crime and gang crime is a worldwide occurrence. Blaming the policy and blaming the politics is dishonest and reactionary IMO.
