House poised to apologize for slavery, Jim Crow

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The House of Representatives was poised Tuesday to pass a resolution apologizing to African-Americans for slavery and the era of Jim Crow.

The nonbinding resolution, which is expected to pass, was introduced by Rep. Steve Cohen, a white lawmaker who represents a majority black district in Memphis, Tennessee.

Funny how the article doesn't place that little "D" next to Steve Cohen's name, as they surely would an "R" if he were a Republican.

Typical liberal media applauding a barrel of snot produced by our do nothing, Dem Congress.

You folks are already missing the point I see. Slavery is certainly crap, but I had nothing to do with it and if I had been there back then, I would certainly have fought against it. However....you know, with all the problems that exist in the US right now....it occurs to me that the congress has better things to do with its' time....

Oh don't go turning this into some sort of Republican versus Democrat thing....BOTH sides of the aisle are equally stupid at times and are real damn good at wasting TIME AND MONEY like this.

Absolutely amazing that they spend their time doing ***** like this. I guess we'll have to apologze to the Indians, the Chinese, the Vietnamese, the Eskimos and every other ethnic group in the world for whatever offenses our forefathers committed. Then we'll move on to other things; the whales, the birds, the rocks, the trees. And we can't forget other countries, their people, their animals and their rocks and trees.

Why I bet Congress could stay busy all year just apologizing. Unfortunately they'll never apologize to us citizens for doing such a lousy job. They'll just say they're trying to save the Earth or some other stupid, meaningless platitude.

Oh, one thing I will add: I work in Memphis....and I am NOT surprised at all that this silliness originated in that city. This town is about the most screwed-up place I've ever seen in this country! Crime, stupidity, municipal graft, vindictiveness, laziness....and it is just plain scary to drive on the roads around there.
