How often to reseal driveway?

The other day some lady knocked on my door and offered to seal my driveway...I had it done last year. He husband stopped by today and mentioned his wife already asked me, but he could still do it. I told them both the same thing...I'd have it done next year.

I'm a little wary of people driving up with a pickup of godknowswhat and offering to seal my drive...I think they are Irish Travellers. Further, how often does it need to be done?

I used to DiY resealing my driveway every year. Everything you need is at Home Depot.

just did mine a couple weeks ago. not that big a deal. the stuff i used said '8yrs' i think. we'll see if it holds up that long. some cheaper stuff was 3yr.

when reading about the subject i learned that you should re-seal when you can see the color of the stones in your asphalt.

Yeah, I priced it once. It was like $10 more to have someone do it once I bought the supplies.

I sealed my driveway 3 years ago. It is time to do it again.

Anyway, I bought the stuff from Home Depot, put it in my garden sprayer, and in less than 30 minutes, I was done. Is there more to sealing concrete?

Gypsies, in more ways than one. They'll slather on a mix of used motor oil and 3 parts whatnot. Best to do it yourself or find someone with a reputable business.

Avoid anyone who comes to your home unsolicited. You let them seal your driveway and the next thing you know, you're burglarized...or worse. When someone approaches, tell 'em to

I don't believe in sealing driveways. It holds in the moisture. Mine pavement is 12 years old, no cracks, no sealer.

And if you do seal (or have the gypsies do it) don't get the brilliant idea to clean your wheel wells or similar with Simple Green on your newly sealed driveway . . .

Really? I found that I could do it significantly cheaper, and do it when it was most convenient for me, if I DiY. I guess you must be getting a good price from the folks that do this in your area.

I get the postcard every spring with a quote on it from RAM driveway sealing. Their total bid is less than half of the cost of materials to do my large driveway and parking area.

I don't think they have ever seen my driveway.
