It was during the Clinton Admin./the Brady Bill ...et al.

I had one (FFL) for years, used to purchase mainly for myself and friends.
When it all changed, you basically had to 'draw them a map' of how to rob you!

Meaning: Being 'rural/home based', you had to draw a map to your home/business showing all nearby roads. You had to provide a layout of your business (floor plan) and WHERE the guns were kept. WHAT TYPE SAFE (by model) they were kept in. What TYPE SECURITY SYSTEM (by model) you had installed. Your hours of operation (OPEN TO THE PUBLIC) ...etc, etc.

Do YOU really want that info., in some database in D.C.?

Not I.

(Or perhaps now, they have relaxed the above details required somewhat?)

Best to stay "off the grid" as much as possible.

The FFL I used in VA charged $27 per transfer or $40 for two at the same time and every time I went there, he had folks coming and going. He did it all at his kitchen table a few nights a week after getting home from his day job. He easily made a few hundred $$ per week doing this, to say nothing of the discounts he could get for his own stuff or if he wanted to wheel and deal. I don't want to bother with a store front. But it seems the start-up costs could easily be recovered in transfer fees.

Something seems odd about that. Maybe his Pa works enforcement...

Yep, Mo, Clinton administration is when and why I turned in my license.

Rick, if you're serious, READ that rule.
"A private dwelling, no part of which is open to the public, shall not be recognized as coming within the meaning of the term."

In other words, you do not need a store per se. You need a business premises which has published hours in which it is open to the public. For example, it can be a garage which is open only on weekends.

They are right it's a pain in the ass to run a gun shop and the valley is really at capacity for them too.

Just got a note from my FFL in VA that the BATF has shut him down due to county zoning issues.
