Anyone know clavinova values?
An auction I go to on Thursdays has a very odd item for them. A Yamaha clavinova CLP-175.
This is the petite Grand version. Any of you guys know what a crazy steal price would be? My wife used to work for Yamaha Musical Products and her contact there gave me a pretty high number and I'm looking for a second/third opinion. They were about $6,500 new and this is probably 3-6 years old. ![]()

why not offer between 750-1250 tops. I see the little ones in just about every casino lounge in town (along with some of the full-sized ones)...Pretty chanky when you consider some of them are on "auto-play", but then you don't have to worry about the keyboardist showing up late/drunk/crabby. Although you should support live music whenever you can.
Believe ir or not, I've seen old DX7's sell for more than the Clavinovas!

Check on eBay to see what they are going for. There are also some piano sites, it's been a while since I've checked them so I'm not sure what they are, but they are kind of like pelican for piano. Lots of enthusiasts, lots of knowledge, fights, etc.
Yamaha Clavinovas can be very nice. Some are pretty expensive, others are not, you really need to check on that particular model number. They do depreciate like crazy, though. My son plays one right now. His is smaller, but a nice one with weighted keys, etc. Pretty much plays like a regular piano, except it takes less room, doesn't weigh as much, and never needs to be tuned! We like it. |

Thanks guys,
I have found a few sites and these do appear to be well liked. The value side is harder to ascertain as they are talking new prices. Ebay is all over the map, from a few hundred to 3-4k. I'm thinking if I can get it under a grand I can't go wrong. I inspected it and it's in perfect shape with all the manuals, papers and stool.

We got one for my Mother-in-law as she lost her piano and organ in Katrina. Believe or not, she LOVES her Yamaha, and is getting pretty "synth-smart" for an 86 year old!

If everything works on it, and it was $6500 new, you can't go wrong at under $1000!
www.pianoworld.com, that's a good site. Here's a discussion, for example http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=002948;p=0 |

Go to pianoworld.com, type in clp-175 in their search bar and you'll pull up some threads.
also, google "craigslist clp-175" and you'll see some ads and asking prices. |

A guy on that very thread sold a CLP-175 for C$4,500! Thanks for the links. I'll do some research and let you know where it goes. Our Yamaha guy said anything under 2 large is a ridiculous steal.

Well my Yamaha guy was correct. I was hanging strong for a while but just after a grand everyone else dropped out and two bidders went nose to nose for about 20 bids running it up to $3,100.
Oh well. ![]()
