LA Angels
Sitting here watching the Angels kick the Yankees butt once again.
They will be 30 games over 500 after today, what an exciting team to watch. Not withstanding injuries, they look to be World Series bound.

I liked it before when the angels were always in last place. back then we didn't have any traffic jams on the 57 freeway from people going to or coming from the game
![]() It takes me about 5 minutes to ride my bike to angel stadium or whatever they are calling it today. I used to go to their games all the time when I was a young, rode my bicycle there. Back then we could get one of the cheep seats for under $4. Since then they've gone on strike about a zillion times and are making so much money to play a game that they've ruined it for the fans. $10 for parking, $24 for a decent seat, $6 for a regular beer that they call large just so they can afford to pay the premadonnas their $12 million a year. bah. I used to be a huge angel fan when they were terrible. Grown men making $millions to play baseball, their greed has ruined the game for me. |

$$ issues aside, they're an ass-kicking crew this year.

Sammy I agree with you, it was much easier to get good seats when they sucked.
That being said I go to maybe 1 or 2 games a year. The rest of the time I sit in my big leather chair, drink good beer, with the A/C on. Of course w my lap top close by so I can PPOT!

I grew up in Huntington Beach and used to ride my bike to games in the summertime via the Santa Ana River bike trail (not sure if I would do that today
![]() The Angels do look like a lock for the World Series though. BTW, the Angels don't play in Los Angeles. ![]() |

The whole "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim" thing still makes me laugh when I hear it. It's so utterly stupid. The team they've built this year is a wrecking crew though. If they keep this pace up, the championship is as good as theirs. I don't dislike them as a team (they're actually quite fun to root for), but as a lifelong Red Sox fan who grew up through the agony of '75, '86 and '03 (and many other) finally to see redemption in '04 and '07 it's hard to compare. The Angels don't have 1/100 the history of the Red Sox. They're a "new age"/moneyball/manufactured team. For me, that makes it very hard to seriously pull for them, although I like them (except when they play Boston, then there's no Mr. Nice Guy...) Even though I grew up living and dying by the Red Sox and I'll wear the "B" cap until I die, I agree with what Jim says about the AL rules. They blow. Going to a Dodgers game is a real treat just because I enjoy the visceral experience of real baseball in the NL rules system. So I guess I root for: Red Sox, Dodgers, Angels, ... Anyone playing (and preferably beating) the Yankees. In more or less that order of priority. ----- Should be fun to watch the Angels dismantle anyone/everyone for the remainder of the season though (Red Sox excepted).
