If you happen to see a Webkinz Dragon...

Sigh... My daughter got a couple of Webkinz for her birthday. She's having lots of fun with them. However, she really loves dragons. Well, there was some problem in production and the dragons are apparently very rare and sought after. Wouldn't ya know it. Looks like one will cost Santa about $40 on Ebay. If you happen to see one in the store at regular Webkinz prices ($15) I'll happily pay for shipping!

My wife is totally into these things (they're actually kinda' cool). She works part time at a local nick-nack shop on her days off and one of the things she does is the ordering of these things. They're HUGE with the kids these days and a lot of adults are actually into collecting/trading them now (kinda' like the Beanie-Baby thing a few years ago).

The online "Webkinz World" thing is pretty neat too. She has one of the dragons - I'll see if she can get more (pretty sure she can).

EDIT: Just called her - sorry, they're retired now. Apparently the shiny material that goes on the dragon's stomach is sold out or backordered or whatever by the supplier to Ganz (company that makes the Webkinz) so they retired the dragons before they even got released. She said she'd keep an eye out though.

My Daughter has passed through the Webkinz phase, but still collects them, just no longer plays in the virtual world.

She will be pleased to hear that her pink Dragon, new with tags, is now somewhat rare!

She's into Club Penguin now . . .

Best

My wife called one of her friends - apparently she has an extra one (brand new, not registered or anything) but she's holding out for Xmas and won't sell for less than $50. Sorry. She did say she'll ask around though (and apparently there's no way she's selling her own).

I have kids, and have no idea what a Webkinz is.

My son is into Webkinz. He has the leopard.

Funny story, the way you "buy" things for your webkinz is by playing games on their website (the site is free). You get credits and can buy things for your virtual webkinz with those credits.

Anyhow, my son and his friend were playing webkinz one day and were apparently not being very nice to his friend's sister, telling her she couldn't play webkinz with them, etc. So this girl logs onto my son's webkinz account (I guess he gave her his password...bad move) and proceeds to spend all his webkinz money on pink clothes for his webkinz. He was DEVASTATED. I couldn't stop laughing.

Yeah, I'm thinking if I don't trip across one in a store that the $40 they're going for now will seem cheap by December.

I saw this craze coming about a year/year-and-a-half ago too. It blows that Ganz is not publicly traded. I'd have made a killing on it.
