Tired of Tom Cruise's foolishness?

"Jolie subs for Cruise in "Salt" thriller
Tuesday August 12 4:36 AM ET

"Edwin A. Salt" is getting a sex change.

New mom Angelina Jolie, coming off the hit movie "Wanted," is in negotiations to replace Tom Cruise in the Columbia spy thriller.

Screenwriter Kurt Wimmer will redraft the screenplay, about a CIA officer who must prove she is not a Russian sleeper spy out to assassinate the president, to suit Jolie. Phillip Noyce remains attached to "Salt" as director.

The title also will change.

The project has a long history, with directors coming and going, though Cruise has long been tethered to it.

Jolie also is attached to star in "Atlas Shrugged," an adaptation of the Ayn Rand novel. She intends to do both, though in what order remains unclear.

"Wanted," in which Jolie plays an assassin, has earned about $250 million at the worldwide box office. Cruise, in theaters last year with the bomb "Lions for Lambs," has a supporting role in the comedy "Tropic Thunder," which opens Wednesday.

Reuters/Hollywood Reporter"

So, is Cruise on the downside of the bell curve of popularity?

Same here. If this keeps up, I'm gonna tell my wife she can stop calling me "Maverick."

Next she's going to play the Everyman in the big screen adaptation of Nausea.

You're telling me.

It should be a woman of intelligence, not a woman of Hollywood.

I've never understood the adulation for people who's only claim to fame is they can pretend to be someone else and get paid for it. Tom Cruise is particularly unworthy.

The world's full of nuts. The problem isn't the nuts, it's the people that worship the nuts. But those people, who are truly nutty, don't bother me, so whatever.

You know, I'd never seen that Tom Cruise segment of Oprah before. Yeah he was being dramatic and goofy, but if you trust the INterWebz you'd think he whipped it out and peed on the couch... Didn't seem THAT bad...

I really like the wedding pictures. You know, the ones that he was having to stand on a box, so he would be at least eye level with the new wifey, instead of being a lot shorter than her.
