I've got friends booking rooms out of town. Lots of folks are frenzied, but the homos are still rolling into town for Southern Decadence this weekend. No chance I'm leaving for a 115 mph storm unless it would be squared up on us perfectly. By Saturday night we'll know what's what. Worst case, I'll leave Sun am. But I don't see that happening now.

i'm holding off shipping some orders down there cause the customers dont want soggy boxes floating in the store again. some people learned their lesson.

others still think that its not their job to save their own a$$.

i predict $4.00 gas again a week from friday if even one offshore rig takes a hit.

Prior to Katrina, we had two features filming in NOLA (The Guardian, and Deja Vu). We had over 500 people there and hundreds of personal and production vehicles. We lost one SUV and one enclosed trailer, that's it. The only reson we lost them was the emergency release on the electric security gate out of the garage was broken and when the power was off, we couldn't get the gate open.

We had evacuation plans, that everyone on the production knew about, six months before we traveled to NOLA. Why? Each movie was in excess of $100 million, and we knew we would be shooting during hurricane season, and we can't get production loss insurance in Florida,or along the Gulf Coast during hurricane season.

I don't think the folks in NOLA need to worry. The forecast shows it heading straight for new orleans, so it will definately miss.

The current storm track certainly doesn't look promising for New Orleans... make sure you have a hatchet in your attic.

That's been my motto in the almost 50 yrs I've been watching it. Remember, these are the same guys who cant tell you if it's going to rain tonight.

Breaking news! All afternoon Gov Jindal has been making emergency plans for the hurricane. C Ray "the Noggin" Nagin is handling more important business on the floor of the DNC convention.

Nagin should be excusing himself and tending to his city.

I hope the path is wrong but to be honest, waiting until after the big game is not a good plan.

If this is a Cat 3 heading your way and you take a direct hit (didn't you get glanced by Katrina) I do not think you will be high and dry.

NO got drilled by Katrina. Passed just slightly East which funneled the surge into Lake Ponchartrain (north of the city). When the storm passed & the wind turned around, the north wind drove the surge towards the city. Pretty much textbook worst case scenario. And in Harvey, west of NO, the wind gauge blew off the Boomtown Casino at 176 mph. Katrina was still a 4/5 at NO. Katrina was a tiger. This one'e looking more like an alley cat.
