They've actually been in those trees since the 60's.
I used to live in Oakland and worked on Piedmont Ave as a teenager. I don't miss it.

Maybe the law enforcement in Bezerkely is as liberal and totally screwed up as the rest of em. We should forget about the trees and put a big electrified fence around Berkeley before any of those liberal-tards escape and pollute the rest of the gene pool any more than it already is.

I remember now. The protester started camping in the trees because the university was planning to cut them down. Someone got an injunction stoping the trees from being cut, but the protesters never left. Looks like the request for a permanent injuntion will be ruled on soon.
