Suspected burglar falls to his death

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/09/11/BAOD12S9S2.DTL&tsp=1

Some of the comments posted by readers are amazing.

Gist of the story is: a suspect tries to get away from the police by hopping over a wall. Finds a 200 foot drop on other side...

A 3 foot wall to protect a 200 foot drop? Mr. Rogers would say, "Can you spell, LAWSUIT"?

Not that I would condone such a lawsuit in this instance, just a sign of the times.

If you turn east on Alta street from Montgomery.

Whoops. Good thing he dropped the screwdriver, or he might have punctured something in the fall.

It's sad/unfortunate what drugs do to people.

I knew several people who didn't do drugs until joining the service. I still don't understand it, but his status as a war veteran does say a lot.

LOL.

Another location for installing suicide barriers. Newsom will probably along with the Golden Gate Transit Authority and of course the BOS authorize a study by forming a committee made up of a very diversified group of trough feeders to study the need for implementing barriers throughout the City. Have to protect the criminals from killing themselves is a top priority. This city must protect the criminal no matter what the cost to it's citizens

I thought I had read something recently about veteran's suicide rate being higher than the general population. Is that true?

This picture was obviously taken after the test firing of the Large Hadron Collider!

The article says he began using drugs in high school. Maybe he enlisted because he had few other prospects? Kind of a "chicken or the egg" question, really. The fact that he was still stealing at the age of 38 to support his havit says more than anything. One less drain on society... good bye, and good riddance...

Now that's a shame.
Rumor is that pelosi, boxer and feinstein are going to introduce a non-binding resolution to congress recommending they repeal of the laws of gravity.
