Anybody interested in some vdub pickups

My dad has 3 rabbit pickups. 1 diesel that needs an injector pump. It ran before and had ice cold air but it needs the pump and tires to be road worthy.

1 gas burner that runs (i think) but not very well. 1 gas burner in the process of being converted to diesel. not sure if the motor is good or not. truck in primer and be stored inside for last 20 years approx. He also has two rabbit hatchbacks that he would let go with these. neither has a motor. Let me know if any of yall would be interested and about what this lot is worth. Byron I know you want these. |

My 944S has been my mini pick-up lately. Amazing what you can stuff under the hatch of a 944.

Dont do that to a 944. Buy a rabbit, much more economical for running around. 50mpg from the diesel.

My "real" pick-up gets 13 mpg. Getting 30 out of the 944 makes my pretty happy with the gas savings, even though the S needs premium. Far more fun to drive than an oil-burning front-wheel-drive econobox.

I bought the 944S to turn it into a race car, but I like driving it so much, I'm having second thoughts. I may just keep the current 8-valve 944 race car, and keep the S as a street car. |

I'm a big fan of cabbys. I've seen several that have been given the GTi treatment, including the 16V, front end, and Recaro interior. That would be a fun project.

The diesel, being smog-exempt, could be tricked out quite a bit. Then again, the stock diesel, while incredibly slow, gets phenomenal gas mileage, up in the 50-60 mpg range.

Ya he and I both have thought of gti'ing the gas burner but then realized we could just buy one done or a gti hatchback for about half what we would have in building one. And yes the diesel is painfully slow but it gets killler mpg. Thanks, Jake I will let him know.

Those ol' Rabbit pickups are renowned for their driving fun. They're lighter than Rabbits. A Rabbit pickup that's been breathed-on a little......is probably the fastest pickup you're likely to ever drive. Faster than a lot of cars.
