I have to turn in my man card

I finally have to admit defeat and have a car towed.

Electrical problem on my 2002 325i. I have futzed with it for 4 days now and am throwing in the towel and getting it towed to the shop. First time EVER that I have not been able to fix a problem on one of my cars. I even rebuilt the engine on my 911! There are more ignition interlocks on this car than you can shake a stick at. They are impossible to trouble shoot.

I am humbled.

Wow, I have had my car(s) towed 3 times in the last 2 years. Twice in the 924 and once in the 525

Send a message via AIM to mikester
If you post pictures of hot chicks it will distract us long enough to get the car fixed.

As long as you don't have to drive a mini-van around while your Bimmer is being fixed, I think you can hold on to our man-card for now...

Hmmm. I thought your man card was yanked quite some time ago.

I'm driving the 911 around. I think the hardest part was admiting that I couldn't fix the problem. Maybe I need to go to a support group for failed mechanics.

Ability to troubleshoot a modern car is not only unnecessary to keep your man card, in fact your man card might come into question if you COULD troubleshoot it. Troubleshooting modern cars is done by wimps that understand computer screens but not cars. The folks who repair these cars are not what I would call "mechanics." Indeed, I think they are generally referred to as "technicians." The computer tells them what part needs replacing (there are no procedures for rebuilding or repairing components, only for replacing them).

Your problem is that you do understand cars and their mechanicals. This would be a hindrance to a technician. Mechanics think. Technicians follow procedures.

This is one of the reasons my newest vehicle is a 2002. I can pretty much repair everything on all my vehicles myself. Only thing I couldnt troubleshoot/ fix, was the auto tranny in my p/u. (computer controlled hunk of crap.)

Getting your car towed to the shop is a mancard violation?

I saw the thread title and thought you went to see "Nights in Rodanthe" and liked it, or something!
