I have one, it's rough and might run if you clean the carbs.
Free if you want to come and get it. Still has the original 4-into-4 pipes in pretty good condition.

Well, it isn't a CB750.
It's a Shadow 750, whatever model number that has. I assumed it was a CB because they were only asking $1,200. So it's a water-cooled, 2 cylinder, with a drive shaft. The good: -It's cheap. -The gas tank/body panels have been repainted this year. -The seat is new as of this year. -Two-disc front brakes. -The carbs have been rebuilt this year. -The fuel system has been redone, minus the fuel pump (which is stamped Mitsubishi). The bad: -It sat in a barn for five years. -It has some frame rust. -It tends to cut out after 7 miles. (Current owner thinks the problem may be the fuel pump.) -One of the fork seals is going. -It needs new tires.

When I was 17, I had a green '74 CB200, my brother bought it for $75 and we basically rebuilt it and got it running. It looked exactly like this one. I tried to win this one on Ebay but was surprised when it got above $800. Even at 200cc's the bike was quick and relatively fun to ride. It was a heavy bike. I'd love to find one again.

A cream puff is between $5500 to $8500 (from my personal experience).
Palumbo, can't help you with a CB200 but I can with a CB350 if interested.

Chris - I hope you already have cash in hand from the deal. I friend towed a 911 tub from Michigan to Mass on a trailer and when he got there, he was turned back after the "buyer" started nit picking the tub.

I think you're talking about a vt750
 I had an 84 which was similar. Nice bike, 6 speed trans, Mine was a little cold blooded after it had been a few weeks but popped right off on a daily basis. I had to clean all the hydraulics to make them work right.

There have been a lot of good bike threads on this forum. My newbie advice on buying a bike is the same as a car, buy the newest, best bike you can afford. I went down the road with an old CB400F and it was fun but I had to dump money and time into it to make it safe and reliable. Luckily someone paid top dollar when I sold it. For the same money I picked up a nicely cared for 1993 VFR750 with some nice mods.
My $.02 if you really want something to ride is buy a newer and more modern bike. You won't spend that much more. This is available locally, probably could get it for $3,500. You can pick up early 90's VFR's in nice shape well under $3,000. http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/mcy/851293872.html If you buy older, buy a classic that's been well cared for or restored. Getting into a bike that needs work unless that's what you love to do, is a black hole.
