No way. Did you catch who LSU played today? Miss State, a team that can't even get out of their own shadow, and LSU allowed 24 points? Texas kind of has to be #4 at worst. Both the Sooners and Wronghorns have a rude awakening when Tech comes around.

Anywho, Alabama is a better football team than LSU, and deserves a rank higher.

Go Dores!

I'm just trying to guess the polls. I personally think UT is looking strong and has no worries with Tech. OU has no fear at all with tech. OU vs UT is another story. I'll be happy if UT can make it to the big 12 championship.

I stopped watching the LSU game during the 1st qtr so I missed most of it. I have a feeling that the polls will have another opinion.

mattdavis11 09-27-2008 10:41 PM

You do realize that TT has the best passing game in the nation, as well as Ok, and Texas having weak secondaries, right?

OU-Texas will be a great match up. It might even be for who's #1 if USC doesn't get re-introduced into the picture. I have a hard time believing that they won't still be inside the top 5, and that's just the way things go, but it isn't right.

I can't see LSU as the #2 team in the nation, they got 24 hung on them by a team that usually only chalks up safeties, and gave up points to a team that shouldn't ever score (UNT).

Big 12, 123.

Hoots 09-28-2008 08:39 AM

The rankings don't matter at this point. The SEC and Big 12 will beat up on themselves. This will unfortunately let USC/OSU back in the Championship picture.

It looks like there may be a lot of shifts in the top 10 rankings over the season. Teams that looked strong have faltered and teams that may have sputtered the first two weeks are improving.

I am from the West Coast and love to root for the local kids. So, honestly, I am glad some of the zealot fans from other parts of the country had to eat some humble pie too after talking so much crap about USC's loss. Oregon State would have apparently put the SMACK DOWN on any team in nation (with the possible exception of Alabama, Oklahoma, or maybe Missouri) had they lined up against them last Thursday--TRUTH! So, maybe hold off on the Pac 10 sucks talk until the bowl games are finished.

I look forward to many more great games!

Mike

well.... osu would not have been as fired up as against usc

usc & uw [Fuskies] occupy a "special" place in the pac10

for uw, that was esp. true when the felon, rick neuweasel was coach -- a local sports announcer here even messed up once and called him that on the air...

Hey Randy:

A friend of mine just handed me his tickets for next week's USC VS Oregon Duckies game! They are GREAT seats too!!

This is a high stakes contest between two of my favorite PAC 10 Teams, so I am looking forward to enjoying a warm, sunny, SoCal afternoon with my son-in-law at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Randy FWIW:

I used to really root for U of W too when my childhood friends Chris Linen and Mike Lansford played for them. They had some great teams in the late 70's/early 80's.

Coaches poll just came out:
1. OU
2. LSU
3. Missouri
4. Alabama
5. Texas
6. Penn St.
7. BYU
8. Texas Tech
9. USC
10. Georgia

And a defense that looks just as bad as last year. I love the Big 12, and Tech's offense is scary. I thought they were a darkhorse BCS candidate with their "revamped" defense, until I saw them play. The defense has to step it up a LOT if they want to have a chance at OU. Otherwise it will be the same thing as years past, teams that stop them on offense will beat them.

Not talking trash, I'm a KSU fan.:( I expect it won't be pretty this Saturday. Hopefully they absolutely slaughter KSU, maybe Ron Prince will get canned (like he deserves).

Thus far, the season that was supposed to be a return to normalcy looks like 2007. Upsets everywhere! I love college football.

LSU played second and third string defensive players for much of the game too.

Congrats on a great start!

If 'Bama continues and wins the SEC, I'll take my crow served warm. ;)

RWebb 09-29-2008 10:55 AM

enjoy mike!

am worried re the ducks; lottsa injuries (altho the 5th string qb only had to play a little last week) -- i'm sure usc will be revved up now

RWebb 09-29-2008 10:56 AM

btw - nobody has mentioned god yet - he is doing pretty well this year

MOMO3.2 09-29-2008 11:39 AM

Thanks, but there is a lot of football to be played. I also don't see any crow being served. Bama has had several big wins during the probation years. I'll wait and pass judgment until sometime in February. On the other hand, the Tigers are the hardest hitting defense in the NCAA. LSU can ride their defense all the way to Miami on 1-08-09.

BRPORSCHE 09-29-2008 01:19 PM

umm which tigers, Hoots?

I see that your an Auburn fan.
I am from Baton Rouge. Fellow LSU guys, favorite rival?

For me its Flori-duh. Game is always my birthdy weekend and a win was a great present.

sammyg2 09-29-2008 01:49 PM

Lots of season left to go, the only thing I know for sure is that it will end up different than it is now. How different? no clue. we'll have to wait and see.

Hoots 09-29-2008 01:53 PM

I guess there are a few Tigers. Memphis, Clemson, Princeton, Missouri. What I meant is LSU can ride their defense.

The one game I refuse to miss Each year is the Auburn - Tennessee game, just in case a meteoroid changes its course and hits the stadium. Oh well there's always next year.

Speaking of cat mascots, my favorite mascots are Leo and Una.
