Why doesn’t Porsche race a 911 in GT2 and a Cayman in GT3?
The could build a high HP 911 to GT2 specs and race it in that class, looking for class wins. They could also build a Cayman to GT3 specs and try for wins in that class. The 911 GT2 would be far faster (due to more HP) than the Cayman GT3, so the 911 would still be the flagship model.
To do this, would they have to homologate a version of the Cayman that would be faster than the base (or even S or turbo) 911’s? Does the fastest Cayman always have to be slower than the base 911? Couldn’t there be some crossover, like a Cayman GT3 is faster than a base 911, but not as fast as a 911 GT3 (or GT2)?

That would require them actually caring about motorsports.
