Have a muffler shop make up a very quiet muffler with a length of pipe on one end... with the end of that pipe expanded so you can slide and tap it right onto the end of your tailpipe, then cinch it up with a muffler clamp. Also have the muffler shop put a bend in the pipe so the muffler points straight up so you don't have space issues... if your tailpipe is at the rear, that will also keep it from dragging/hitting the pavement when you pull it up onto the trailer. It would look stupid, but it would totally free up your situation, and you could easily remove it once you get the car trailered. If this doesn't make sense, I'll draw you a picture.

Having a load exhaust is irresponsible, getting upset at someone else because someone complains is too. They shouldn't be mowing a lawn at 9 pm but two wrongs .......... | ||

True, true..... sigh. But, I'll take it at 7AM for 45 seconds over the guy with the Harley revving it for 5 minutes before it can stumble it's 1+ liter motor making a whopping 60 hp off .... (Sorry, but I'm not a fan of the flatulent crude-we shoulda designed a real crankshaft 50 years ago but were too cheap and now we're in "fashion" open Harley sound.) But that's the point, isn't it? One mans music is another's headache!? (kinda like how your farts aren't so bad, but everyone elses STINK!)

And there is nothing they can legally do about it, but they still called the Cops, and they said the same thing, nothing they can do except respond, just like there is nothing I can do about them mowing their lawn at 9pm except call the Cops and have them respond I guess: Get it?

hey, it's tough to keep up with the truck trailer and car maintenance, much less the "development" required to run up front, and the "fancy projects" like that get deferred. Maybe this winter, although i have some space/time reserved in my one car shop for some quality time with the old 911. (and just for the record, I don't blame my neighbors for disliking the sound at all, but when I make the effort to only do it during proper hours, and they don't call in other neighbors with equally loud sounds at worse hours, AND they aren't such quiet church mouses themselves, I get annoyed.) And they are rude, or inconsiderate. Like, playing baseball in their 50' x50' backyard, and the ball lands in my drive, next to my M3. Now it COULD dent the M3, but I say nothing. They call over and ask for the ball back, I say "sure" and toss it, and do they say "Thankyou"? Of course not! My friend was visiting and was wide eyed.

Mowing a lawn takes time, and a cop could easily respond in time. Perhaps a warning the first time, and a ticket the second.

I would just like to say that, in honor of this thread, I fired up my 3.0 tonight and ran it for about 20 minutes, at oh, about 3,500 rpm. While it was running, I then fired up my 2.7, and repeatedly revved the ***** out of it to spike the oil pressure and check on some leaks I just fixed. If my 2.4 was actually in the car, I'd have fired that up too. Did I mention the 3.0 has a wide-open exhaust? The sounds were glorious. The neighbors were running for the hills.

well, in NC, they are usually running for the hills because the caches of crew-served weapons are hidden up there instead of at home with the small arms...

However, I should come clean and admit that I had ongoing problems with the neighbors behind me, and have called the cops on them for noise. They are mouth-breathing lagoon dweller throwbacks in the middle of a nice neighborhood, tearing cars apart with swing sets over the cars to hoist engines at 2 am on weeknights. Flood lamps pointed toward our house, air compressors kicking in, all of it behind our house where the bedrooms are. I spoke with them about it a few times, trying to be cordial and neighborly. No dice, they are just inconsiderate, ignorant pr##ks. So after a few attempts, when they were making noise late into the night, I'd walk over and tell them the compressor and lights are off or I'd call the cops. If they didn't shut 'er down, I'd call the cops. After a while I'd stop warning them. After a year or so, they caught on. Just like training dogs, really. I worked outside on gravel driveways enough to be sympathetic, but holy smokes, a guy's gotta have some peace. Other highlights with them included paving their driveway at midnight on a wednesday, and a few weeks later chainsawing down two of my trees to "open up the view". Great, I can see and hear them SO much better. I shouldn't complain too much though, they've been quiet for the last year or so. Bet their power got cut off.

I had an early start one morning, but the neighbours needed to have a loud party outside my bedroom window. Twice i went over & asked if they would turn it down, all nicely of course! The second time, i was informed my a highly intoxicated punter that somehow this was my fault. I just shook my head & tried the best i could to sleep. Very unsucessfully! Next morning, when i was going to work at 5am, i took my TL series bins [speakers] & placed them strategically in both the window openings, plugged them into 100watts of Yamaha glory, set the volume to 1/2, threw 'Surfin with the alien' in the cd, then hit repeat. Then i trundled off to work! Strangely, i never had another noise issue with the neighbours! That was years ago. My current neighbour & I have an understanding: He doesn't fire up his mower before 9am, & i dont shove it places it shouldn't be! Simple! That was an agreement we came to at 6am one fine sunday morning!

Everytime someone calls the cops on me I go online and register them as sex offenders.
