Direct TV HDDVR help needed

Today (yes Sunday @ 8AM) the Direct TV tech came out to fix a problem.

Great guy - problem solved by ultimately replacing the HDDVR.

The old one (silver model below) was a MDL # HR20-100S
The new one (black one below) is an HR22NC-100

How can I get the recorded programs from the hard drive of the old one onto a DVD or into the new HDDVR harddrive? The old one still works but does not receive HD. They both have USB receptacles.

Thanks very much for the help!

What's wrong with the old one? Without taking the DVR apart and pulling the hard drive, I am not sure you can move the programs via USB.

Maybe nothing. Before he got here it was working but without HD reception. Its one of those deals where the shotgun approach worked. He replaced the LNB's, the HDDVR, some cables and re-aimed the dish and suddenly we had HD again. The problem could have been the LNB.
