Face to face with a career re orientation

I'm there...after 18 years as an aircraft maintenance engineer. I applied for a Transport Canada (like FAA) aviation security inspector job....We were 115 peoples in list for this...and they choose me....I'm still asking myself why me....! I have to say than I'm afraid a bit....Office work....no more tools than a computer and a pen...! Aviation companies audits....reports....follow up with law application...business suit....ARRRRGGGGH. I will try....but it's quite a change. Anybody here has done this kind of move ?...I'm interested to get feedback if so.

I did a significant career change in '00, but not to a suit. Well, I did have to dress a little nicer, but then after another switch in '06 I'm back in jeans all the time.

No job is perfect, and they all suck in some way. The key is to find the one that is the most fun and doesn't drag you too far down.

I went from a maintenance tech in the field to a corporate desk job with the company I work for. It's easier on my body but I sure miss getting out in the field and fixing stuff.
