				New 4473 for firearm transfers

The ATF has a new form to be used after 11/15/2008. They are back to yellow after being white since October of '05. I'd call it more of a booklet format now compared to unfolding the present one. No longer have to write yes & no, just check the appropriate box. Now room for five guns instead of three (are they expecting more multiple sales?). Now four pages instead of three. For me in the mid '80's a years worth of 4473's were less than a inch thick when they were a single page. Last year's stack measured almost 5". I noticed on those old forms there was a box the dealer could check for the customer's identifiction, to the effect he was 'known to you' and didn't have to show an ID. And of course previous editions are obsolete and must be thrown out. Jim

I haven't gotten a gun through an FFL transfer in probably nine mos. I almost forgot what those forms look like. Face to face transactions are the way to go in AZ.
