goofy ass wolf/weimereiner acting weird while im watering citrus trees. notice object by master bedroom door. holy POO! call to son to grab shovel and corral dog. get my RWS .177 pellet pistol.

SILENCE IS GOLDEN! headshots from 5 feet away. no mas crotalus!

we have been practicing with pellet rifle/pistol just about daily since we found out we were drawn for elk. have targets set up. lazered ranges off. gone thru scads of rws pellets over the past few months.

practice makes perfect!

being a native of this god fer saken furnace i call home .............ya dont get real excited until they get into the inner sanctum of my acre and a half.

when they do enter it becomes a real big deal. standard op is to have one spotter until full automatic tru-temper shovel is grabbed, then if time allows, go for pellet pistole or rifle.

nailing with shovel is the mano y mano method. i have done it and ya better be damn fast and damn good at hitting them. otherwise you now have a really pissed off snake and they do move fast.

while son spotted for me i grabbed shovel then ran to garage for rws pistol.

first shot in head made him go into coil and start buzzing tail. kept up the assault as fast as i could reload so he didnt go anywhere i couldnt see him. after about 3 rds he was pretty much toast. grabbed shovel, whacked head, disposed of head in dumpster so dog couldnt get.

too picture, grabbed cold juan , and kind of let out a sigh of relief.

i have eaten them, they are good, they do taste like chicken. and thats not a joke.

have made hatbands (many) over the years. skinning them is easy. slap on board with tacks and rub glycerin all over skin to make pliable.

just kind of consider them a mini grizzily bear or a shark..................they pack a hell of a punch for their size.

since goofier than hell wolf/weimereiner alerted me to "stranger danger"...............and finally earned his keep.....................he got extra "snausages" with an extra helping of doggie food. "GOOD THROTTLE" (his name).

Gotta love the pellet guns for this kind of duty. Do you have one with a bit more punch than a .177 pistol? My favorite around the house vermin gun is a '62 vintage Sheridan Blue Streak that I sent off to Mac1 for their "steroid" treatment. It shoots 14.5 grain 5mm (.20 cal.) pellets at an honest 900 fps. Kinda slow to reload, but most little critters (up to possum size) only need one. Spent many a fine evening out on the back porch with a flashlight, the Sheridan, and a beer, shooting baited/spotlighted rats out of the back hedgerow.

airguns of arizona is the place for fanatical air gun people like me and my kid. they offer compressed air off scuba tanks(got 4) to pressurize guns up to .58 caliber. let me repeat that....................(.58 caliber). these guys offer the finest airguns on the planet. and a price tag to match. totally silent.

my buddy bought the .22 caliber suppressed for around 1200 bucks. silent death to critters.

airgunsofarizona.com has some of the coolest european mfg'd weapons i have ever seen.

normal times pellet gun comes out maybe twice a week for giggles or varmint duty.

since drawn for elk both rifle and pistole rws are out every evening before sundown popping targets. incredible practice. cheaper than dirt to shoot and we get some real bets going down on who can shoot the best groups.

i really cant imagine living life without a ass kicking pellet rifle and pistole.

rws rifle just got massaged by airguns of arizona. new seals, centerpoint 3 x 9 illuminated scope, wazoo one piece benjamin scope mount, harris bipod, and sling mts. w/sling. scope has mildot reticle on it.

unreal fun beaning the snot out of happy joyful kangaroo rats/rock squirrels/etc.

god i wish i had my 20 year olds eyeballs. perfect vision. natural born sniper. makes me proud everytime he nails swinging target or a rat!
