Another idea might have been.....uh.....fill it with water and go for a dip. Just sayin'.

Jim Richards 05-29-2010 06:31 AM

what's the deal with (rain, ground) water in the hole? smells? mosquitoes? slime creatures?

TerryBPP 05-29-2010 06:51 AM

Kinda has a "My Lovely Bones" feel to it.

....or the best grow house EVER!

Nice Wayne

Smart idea with young children. Having said that, and saving Wayne thou$ands of $$ in chemicals and maintenance.

Pools are a definite liability for the little pleasure they return. ;)

You people all think there's an island, but when you get banned from Pelican Parts that's where you really go- you get locked under Wayne's deck. :D

And it would be a really great place to hide the stash! :)

Looks like an excellent place to store munitions. ;)

The deck looks great. I love the non-orthagonal edges of the wood butting up to the concrete. It gives a nice organic feel to it. Much more visually interesting than a typical circle, oval or rectangle. I know that's mostly driven by the original shape of the pool, but it looks nicer than I thought it would originally. For added accenting you could add a few planter boxes too, but it really did turn out nicely.

And yes, that looks pretty overbuilt, which is good.

Is there any provision for ventilation under there? Just through the slats (should be adequate).

Very well stated P O P! My thoughts exactly.

Oops the light from your grow lights will shoot up through the seams tho. :-)

Nice job. Wayne!

Cheers Richard

Whoa! I've got to check the dates on threads, had no idea it was so old. Wonder how that deck is looking four years later.

cabmandone 01-20-2015 10:14 AM

That looks great! But weren't you supposed to put the deck around the pool? :D

Rusty Heap 01-20-2015 11:21 AM

Am I the only one to notice, Wayne used a hidden fastener system, looks like a screw up from underneath system, of 90 degree brackets? your extra attention to the little detail shows.....and that beam/tier system looks Fort Knox stout!

I love how you contoured the end of each board to folder the pool curves too.

I did hidden fasteners on my 12' x 60' 720 sq foot deck. Did a herringbone design of 5/4 x 6" Tigerwood Zebra-striped Cashew Hardwood, and an aluminum T-clip with star bit stainless screws.

the T clip system still is working great on m 8 year old deck.
