Couldn't resist. New BMW K1200S on it's way! Whohooooo!

Sold my 02 KRS last spring and have regretted it ever since I saw it ride off under the new owner's control. A bit of professional uncertainty caught me in a soft moment and I sold the bike (a bit too easily) for essentially the same as I paid for it. Replaced it with a HD V-rod and like the bike, but long for insane power and handling. The V-rod is only breath-taking. May keep both.

Well, times are even more tenuous...and professional uncertainty is now a way of life...but the lure of an affordable 08 K12S was more than I could stand. I found a new 08S with ABS, OBC and a center stand at a dealership up North where the snow is blowing around. We worked out a great deal and are arranging shipping for arrival in early December. 09's will be out in the spring and BMW has some strong incentives out to move the last of the 08's.

Fortunately, I was able to get it in the fast color. Black....always elegant. Fully expecting many sleepless nights until she arrives. It's my 50th birthday present to myself and I can't recall having that giddy feeling deep inside in a long, long time.

It's good to be back! Tank slappers and grip puppies will start the farkeling.

Not the exact bike but essentially the same. Open to suggestions for a name (I've never named a vehicle before...but feel somehow compelled)...

I figured the v-rod wouldn't quite float your whole boat. Sweet, sweet ride. I admit that I have lusted in my heart after one of these:

or the sport version

but my budget right now says just the GS...

Hmm nice. Keep em both, so depending on what you want to ride, you have a choice.

I stay away from the BMW delaership on purpose, mainly because my wife would kill me, and I don't have any room.

Nice bike. Give a shout when you want to do the N.Ga. thing. A bunch of us P-car guys in the metro area ride regularly. Cheers and congrats.

Riding. Seriously...it could be called an old man's sport bike. 167hp, ABS, duolever front suspension and all sorts of hi-tech goodies. Not as radical as a busa, but a contender with more comfort for us old guys. Add some bags and it's a nice sport tourer with insane power, etc.

Thanks for the words guys. I'm really stoked about this bike. Will keep the Rod, at least for a while. Once the S steals my heart, I may sell off the HD for farkle money! There are a few 08's left and there are some good deals to be had. Glad you're enjoying the GS Todd...it's an awesome machine, especially if you have some adventure riding in your plans!

Schweet. Some bags and a decent seat, and you'll be set.

The guy I bought my R1150R from replaced it with a K1200R. Badas$ bike. I'm taking the GS on a serious offroad ride to the Coke Ovens tomorrow.

"Sportbike for old men". Perfect.

That bike is awesome--you'll have a great 50th-plenty of holiday time to ride.

Congrats. Jack

One of the dealerships locally was selling one of these. They described it as "eyeball flattening acceleration to thrill even the most seasoned adrenaline junkie...."

Have fun!

sweet, sweet ride bro! that thing will pull your arms right out of your shoulders. I test rode one and went right back to the dealer. I DO NOT have the discipline for that thing. My license would be gone in two months. Have fun with it.

What's the riding position like? Seems like the pegs are centered while the bars are low.

I had the thrux on my first long-ish ride yesterday. Got to stretch those hips out...geez.

That thing is so fast...the long wheelbase really provides insane 1st gear acceleration.

I have an "old man's sport mike", although it's not a BMW. It's a japanese bike with a pretty comfortable, upright riding position. We call it a "couch rocket."
