A little Christmas Joy

So, times are tough, and I've been struggling to pay the bills. I haven't even been able to afford a Christmas Tree for my four kids, even one of those upside down ones at Target.

So, the kids and I were walking home from Dollar Tree late last night. We live in a ground level apartment, on the corner of two busy, but not major streets. I had managed to save some of my tip money so we could at least buy a string of lights to hang up in the living room or something.

And, then, the funniest thing happened. It was like divine providence, really. One of the kids pointed and said, in an excited voice:

"Dad. DAD. Look! It's a little Christmas Tree!!!!!"

And, sure enough, right near the entrance to the aparment building, perched perfectly on 3-foot-high brick wall, was the coolest looking little tree, like a miniature Christmas tree. It even had an ornament on it. Someone must have known how hard we've had it this winter, and set this beautiful tree where we could see it.

So, we picked up our new little tree and took it into our apartment. I strung the lights up on it, and the kids are so happy. Thank you, Good Samaritan, wherever you are.

Congrats, Gogar, that's great. The scene you describe sounds familiar. A neighbor has the same set-up except he has a couple of orchids in pots. Sometimes when I'm walking home after a evening at the bar, I'll urinate in the orchid pots just for the heck of it.

Jeremy,

To keep the good fortune flowing your way, I've decided to let you have this bicycle of mine to give to one of your kids. I've only had it for a few months, but never really got the chance to ride it. It's yours, my friend, Merry Christmas!

I've removed the cheap plastic handlebar streamers and the thumb-bell that was on it when I got it, so it will look great with a big pretty bow on it under your tree.

I'll throw in a 12' chop saw for the budding carpenter in the family.

I'm assuming the brick wall was the wall around "your" apartment and not one of your neighbors....

We'll, It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

Oh, that's easy. Just mention that you drove over the speed limit on the way to work. Better yet, tell them you raced to work.

The fact that you are on this forum is proof that you already made a comment that offended someone else.
