Many (or most) ball or roller bearing engines don't have oil pumps so, I guess that could be it too.

he said the engine was a lot like Porsche's 4 cam engine. That intrigued me.

I know the 4-cam was a dry sump - I certainly assumed it had an oil pump.

I don't know if he still does this but I saw him on stage at the comedy and magic club in Hermosa beach.
He pretty much comes out with a stack of index cards and reads jokes... the ones that get a laugh go into his pocket (to be used on the show) and the clunkers get thrown out. Still pretty cool to see a millionaire superstar live in a small club, I have done a couple a times.

Mr Leno has quite the collection of cars, like the orange Miura, that is a good color for that car, I like that R 8 too in the lambo video

I was able to meet him a few times and was able to visit his car collection. One of the Muira's he owns now If I remember right was previously owned by Dean Martin. I believe it was yellow but it has been a few years.
The Countach really is an icon of the 80's. I loved it then and still do now.

What I also find interesting about Leno is he has a good mix of better-than-new restorations, never restored (or barely restored to make them run) cars, and brand new cars.

I agree with those that think Leno is a true car guy at heart. Seems like the real deal with a ton o'cash to buy whatever he wants.
I really dig that Honda. That's a new one to me.

I think I read somewhere that Leno said he doesn't spend a dime he makes from the Tonight Show and lives on money from his stand-up shows and endorsements. He must have a pretty comfortable retirement planned.

Like everything, they're not getting any cheaper. Do a quick search on www.bringatrailer.com to see some recent examples in various states of condition (I thought long and hard about the $700 shell recently posted on there...would make a cool little cafe racer with a Hayabusa implant

Seems that putting the Busa engine in the Honda takes quite a bit of the beauty away from me, even if you are multiplying the HP by 4.

That guy is one of my idols. I dream of a garage where I could bring my cars in, and feel like I was in my living room describing a piece of furniture.
-But...one thing that he said about the Countach kind of catches my attention: "The windows don't roll down", next to the cop car, then "When this car was available in the '80's...there was no side window glass available that could cope with the cars' potential top speed of 170-175 mph... Point: The Porsche 928, from its beginning of production in 1978 until the end of its production in 1995 used the same piece of glass for all the door windows. That includes the S4's, the GT's, and the GTS's, all of which were capable of 175 mph+ Hmm... N! |

He really seems like a down-to-earth guy who loves cars & motorcycles & can afford any toy he wants. And he really knows all about his cars from the technical standpoint. One thing he appreciates -- & it is reflected in his eclectic collection -- is technology that was ahead of its time (such as the Honda in the video) or just plain interesting technology. For example, his Mazda Cosmo. I saw him on some show on Speed with his Stanley Steamer. He showed how to get it running. It was an amazingly complex -- & lengthy -- process that involved him crawling under the car, lighting various pre-heaters, etc. It is cool that he knows all of his cars & their peculiarities. I would love to spend an afternoon with him in his garages.

Sweet, that would be cool Yasin.
I saw a Countach at lunch the other day, I was surprised at how small it was, still cool. I had the poster as a kid as well. Bill |
