Bummer. Sell it as new on Ebay and buy a Mac. Seriously. Not being a smartass. That's what I would do and I use XP. When my Dell XP is done, I'm done with Microsoft. Unless they bring XP back.

The Mac side isn't any better. I've tried this little Mac venture for a while now and it's no better than XP/Vista. Actually I prefer the Vista machine my MIL is using over my PowerMac. I'm getting ready to go home.

Inside Outlook.... tools/options/send/ check the box that says "automatically put people I reply to in my address book"

Is that what you're looking for?

Are you sure you want to add everyone you send mail to? Yahoo mail does that and I hate it. You can always right click the recipient address and select "Add to Contacts".

I just bought a 15.4-inch Dell XPS laptop. It's loaded with everything, including top line video card, all the RAM possible and a 2.4 ghz processor - a little over $1K.

But all of it will be for naught if Vista poops out. So I have XP waiting on deck should the inevitable become the inevitable.

My question is Windows 7: when and how will it be worth the trouble once it comes out...

Thanks, I needed to uncheck, check then hit apply to get it to work.

Do you *have* to have Windows for anything? If not, most dells take Linux really well...

I found vista to be great once I got used to it and adjust the settings to my liking. now all the drivers are out and most bugs are fixed, i think its a pretty good OS.
you cant blame vista for some setings in outlook...something new is coming early next year anyways, maybe the general population will like it better...

Yahoo does this? I've had 4 yahoo emails addresses for a decade. One for ebay, one for paypal, one for craigslist, and I send emails daily through them. I have zero contacts or address books in any of them. It must be selectable.

Edit: Just remembered I never allowed yahoo email to update to the new version. I'm still using the original version.

I just loaded a beta of Win 7 on one of my laptops and from what I've been playing with so far it is a vast improvement over Vista. It seems much faster, I've noticed greater battery life, and it doesn't ask you to OK every time a program needs to access the web! The main reason I loaded it was to see the improvements in Medis Center and let me tell you, if you've been using earlier versions of it you'dd bee quite impressed. I'll tell you more as I discover new things. . .

Hey Mike,

The first thing I need to ask is what version of Outlook are you using? Also is it Outlook or Outlook Express? That being said try signing up for Plaxo. It's a free online contact syncing tool that is trying to be a social network like Linkedin. When you sign up Plaxo puts a neet little tool in Outlook that allows you to add an incoming emails address to your contacts.

Good luck,
Michael

Why do people say they don't like Vista, then complain about a problem with MSOffice? My father did this today. Vista is fine and I have not had any problems with it at all. People hated XP when it 1st arrived, too.
