GOO Gone
Can anyone recommend an alternative to this product? My local stores don't have it. I want to clean the glue from some stickers on my new fridge, so gasoline is out of the question. Anyone?

You can get some 3M adhesive remover from most autoparts stores.

benzene is a great solvent, as is toluene, but they give you cancer, liver I believe.
Lighter fluid works well too, |

My new TV had a sticker under the screen that appeared to be removable... based on the amount of adhesive left behind I guess it was supposed to stay. I went after the sticky stuff with the WD 40. Soak a small spot on a cloth rag and get it fairly wet. It will melt away in no time.

I'd agree with the WD-40, but would also suggest -- if you want to try to avoid fumes -- to try adhesive tape. Applying something like duct tape, or packing tape, and pulling it off rapidly (multiple times) can sometimes be an effective method for removing the residue of stickers.
