Who else's company won't be handing out raises this year end?
My boss (the CFO) just called me into his office and informed me that there'd be no salary increases this year, due to low factory order intake. Not just our US divisions, but our Swiss parent and worldwide groups as well.
Now I've got to meet with my staff, and share the happy news with them. Merry F'ing Christmas. Oh well, at least I still have a job.

Bonus and raises here, but we do better in a down economy. Well we do fine in either economy now that I think about it.

No raises or bonuses for us either. I'm in wood products. My plant is carrying the company and the only mill making money, but no "atta boy".

I've never gotten a bonus at any job other than a $50 AMEX gift card. Only raise I've ever gotten was a counter offer when tried to give my two weeks notice. But that was almost 50% on the spot, which I took.

I haven't had a raise since...September of 2000 and the last bonus I got was when I was doing production welding in the mid 90's. I'm not joking.
Thanks for the reminder, where's my whiskey?

Plenty of salary cuts and zero bonuses, in my industry. For those not getting pink slips.
I know for me this will be a year of zero raise and zero bonus. The issue is whether it will also be a year of salary reduction, as many others here are getting. I have a contract that says "no", so that should take care of it.

At the Christmas party last night, they had a drawing for one gift basket with a summer sausage and some apples. One basket.
They shouldn't have had the party. It was very awkward. |

I'll get my standard raise and bonus this year. Next year I'm gunning for a big bonus and a promotion.

The irony for me was one day we get a blast-o-gram telling us how great the quarter was and how many zillions we pulled in, and then the next day we get another blast-o-gram telling us that due to hard times, there won't be any raises.

I've got a client where the Xmas bonus is going to be the november pay cheque. The two sales managers are losing the company BMWs and will be paid commission and expences only. The retail stores are closing year end and there will job cut by February if some big new contracts don't come in.
Cause: they got shafted by some suppliers, some clients are paying late or not at all and a couple of banks called in loans. If the banks didn't pull the plug they would be expanding despite these problems (and without additional finance!). I also have clients who supply components to the auto industry. That is a bloodbath waiting to happen. After years of squeezing margins, manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers are now jerking lower level suppliers around with different tactics to extend payment times such as finding fantasy quality issues and payment terms vased on when the components are used not when supplied. This in addition to the obvious reduction in quantities and orders. I'm also starting to see this trend in other industry sectors. Bonuses? Some are lucky to have any kind of paycheque.

My company is having its client Xmas party in January. And no one is authorized to travel to get there. Gonna be very awkward. Though DC usually has so many Xmas parties, that it's hard for everyone to fit one in that month.

I dont get any year end bonus, but hey, I still have a job. Just think that in 2007, the year end bonus for all of Wall Street was an "average" of $160,000.00. Thats for all the people working on wall st. Times have changed, and it seems like companies are feeling bad about having a year end celebration.

I just got a raise. Received my yearly bonus last week. Spoke with my boss earlier, and I and a few others are receiving an additional discretionary bonus..

No raise. Bonus yes, (supposedly). Back to the downside... We all are being 'asked' to take a voluntary 2 week layoff the first quarter.

Our year-end raises and bonuses are actually announced end of January and effective in March, but I'll be getting them this year. I bet they won't be as big as last year though............
