if yer referring to a license to purchase a suppressor, it is not. it is a STAMP! just like a usps stamp but BIGGER!
go to major malfunction.com and they can walk you thru over the web the basic requirements to possess a SBR, a suppressor, or a machine gun. most everyjuan thinks its a big deal, it really isnt as long as you have been a good lil boy or girl most of yer life. and you have no charly manson, jim jones, wayne gacy, bonnie and clyde aspirations. they get kind of uppitty about thangs like that. waiting times for a sbr, suppressor, machine gun vary from state to state. arizona with a CCW license is about 3 months from the time you submit papers and have yer audience with local cop shop. if im not mistaken i get to meet "SHERRIF JOE" in person for mine. ought to be a hell of a good time since i played football with his #2 dave hendershott and his #3 larry black at brophy college prep here back many many moons ago. .22 suppressors are only about $199 bucks on the low end and they go up from there. but the beauty of it is if yer smart and purchase weapons conducive to threading their barrels you can own (1) tax stamp for suppressor, own (1) suppressor and switch it around from weapon to weapon as my example of the ruger (2) .920 bull barrels and my fluted stainless bull barrel ruger 22/45. so (1) suppressor fits (3) weapons. you will have to get another stamp-$200, a suppressor $200 +, and the weapon for another caliber. ie . .22 has its own suppressor, 9mm gets its own suppressor, .45 gets its own suppressor. example: $200 stamp for .22, $200 plus for suppressor, plus threading barrel $200 stamp for 9mm, $200 plus for suppressor, plus threading barrel $200 stamp for .45, $200 plus for suppressor, plus threading barrel. one time deal on tax stamp for each suppressor. this goes to your grave unless you sell it. drawbacks: 1) difficult to sell not liquid. new purchasor must comply with all FFL laws and pass background before you handing over possession of suppressor to another person. must go from you to ffl to new purchasor PERIOD! no behind the bar, wood shed sales. 2) if yer caught in a state w/crappy gun laws with a sbr, machine gun, suppressor YOU ARE FEDERAL AND STATE TOAST! see ya for a few years . 3) YOU CANNOT POSSESS A SUPPRESSOR/SBR/MACHINE GUN IN ANY STATE HUNTING! EVER! 4) if yer lokal bank is robbed and the dumbass blonde bimbette airhead teller says to the cops...." he or they had (fill in the blank) a SBR, SUPPRESSOR, A BLACK EVIL MACHINE GUN, the fbi agent is gonna walk to his crown vic trunk, pull out laptop and search a 50 mile radius for sbr, machine gun, suppressor owners and pay YOU A VISIT BE IT 8AM or 3AM looking for that weapon and YOU BETTER HAVE IT! and they dont care WHO YOU ARE! they wanna see that weapon NOW! god HELP YOU IF SHOTS WERE FIRED AND YOUR WEAPON/SUPPRESSOR IS DIRTY! and you have GSR(gun shot residue on you). then the LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGG TALK BEGINS and you will be late fer werk. 5) you cannot loan these toys out ever. friends may use while you are standing next to them out in dezert or at range. majormalfunction.com |

pay for application $5 and filing fee $125 with photos/fingerprints and application and have 3 references signatures, submit application for judge to approve. could take 6 months, more, maybe less, depending on how busy the judge is everytime you buy a gun, you have to amend your license to add that gun by showing bill of sale, serial number etc...and pay a small fee for each gun. $3 i think. Pistols only. Permit is for concealed carry, no open carry in NY state |
That's about my take on it, though Charles said it much better. When I got my FFL I was asked if I wanted to add on the class III. I said I wasn't interested.

Pretty much every time I go into my local gun store I get the sales pitch for a suppressor, the guy's got dozens of them in stock. It sounds like the process is pretty straightforward and exactly as described in this thread. 200 bucks for the license, 200 bucks for the suppressor and a trip to visit the sherriff. I belong to an outdoor gun range and the noise really doesn't bother me so much but it would be kind of nice to unload a few rounds in the hill behind the house occassionally. I've had my CC permit here in Ohio since the week the law was passed a little over 4 years ago. I don't carry often but I want the ability to do so when the need arises.

i just purchased not long ago after ruger introduced them the 22/45 stainless fluted bull barrel.
i saw it listed in rugers web page and i think i paid sumthang like $329-369. for this particular bull barrel tornadotechnologies moves front site backwards and then threads barrel and gives you thread protector knurled for threads. as i mentioned son and i blasted 200 rds, g/friend and i blasted 200 rds of crap cheap federal 550rds for 13.47 from wally world ammo and there wasnt NOTHING WE AIMED AT THAT WE DIDNT HIT DEAD ON! shudder at what damage we could do with good quality match ammo with one of these. i actually did get to see a guy with a volquartzen .920 barrel 10/22 knock the heads off ohio blue tip matches from 100yds with match ammo and a scope. damn thing was impressive! any of these mfgs. bull barrel match .22's shoot WAYYYY OVER THE HEAD OF THE AVERAGE SHOOTER ON A BAD DAY! meaning the quality is there. smithwesson makes a .22 model 10 shot wheel gun in stainless thats a lil spendy that i have shot and its accuracy with crap plinking ammo is also awesome. check out volquartzen.com and they got some damn nice xmas prezants! |
sweet stuff
your link was off a little ..."S" not a "Z" volquartsen.com |

yes you can spend some bucks mit der volquartsen gang. top knotch stuff. my gunsmith uses all their parts on his builds. he added a number of goodies to both of my 10/22's. they are idiot proof and eat everything i throw at them.
i asked him why he uses their stuff..........his answer " i dont get anyjuan complaining." if you try subsonic ammo from anyjuan even without a suppresor you will find the loudness decibels equal to a rws model 52 .177 pellet rifle. |

i told ya so!!!!!! you can get wayyyyy out of hand with these.
my buddy traded me a bushnell red dot scope with (4) different red dot reticles in it. after shooting it iron sited and WOWING the hell outta ourselves, i added the red dot and its just GIGGLES GIGGLES GIGGLES every time you shoot the damn thing. cant think of a nicer sunday afternoon than getting some munchies, a 12 pak, and a coupla bricks of blammo ammo and having a tailgate party out in the dezert on a nice hot day. and then cleaning up all of our cans we shot. we dont like earth pigs. the BEST WAY TO INTRODUCE CITY SLICKERS to the fine art of learning how to shoot, is with these pistols. have seen too many city slickers at the range shoot weapons wayyyy over their heads with big calibers hurt themselves or launch the gun into the air and onto the ground because of improper instructions and poor stance. and thats when it gets real hairy! and thats part of the reason i dont like going to the range on busy weekends. TOO MANY IDIOTS that can get you killed. punching paper is fine and i do it often when building rifles and pistols. but my kind of fun is just going plinking in the national forest(tonto national dezert) about 15 miles north of me. nojuan around, quiet, peaceful and some good clean air. nothing better than the look on a newbee's face when they hit their first target bullseye. |
dropping guns? haha whoa watch out

3 -- I've never heard that hunting with a suppressor is strictly prohibited in all states. I believe they have been required by local municipalities for certain animal control activities near suburban areas. I'd have to research it more, but am fairly certain South Carolina has no restrictions on hunting with a suppressed firearm. 4 -- Can you show me even one example where events played out as you describe regarding a "robbery," or other crime, with a possible Class 3 item? Why would the "FBI" have such a database, when it is the ATF which handles the registration and records for Class 3 items? What evidence do you have that ATF, or any other agency, has "geo-positioning" software that would allow them to do a "radius search" such as you describe? You give a link (which I haven't gone to yet), but would say that if that link is your "source" for your "list," spend some time learning the laws regarding Class 3 items (try the ATF's site), and talk more with people who own and sell those items, rather that repeating what sounds like "hog wash" to me. |

Rugers are great target pistols. Below is a pic of my MarkIII Target model with 6 7/8 inch barrel. I've never fired a MarkI or MarkII so I can't really compare the trigger pull to the III. Next time I go to the range I'll rent a I or II to feel the difference. You can't go wrong with a Ruger Mark.
