5.91 Posts per Day.

4 years running.

What is that number aching to tell me?

I do not belong to or frequent any other forums, not even Swedish. What has possessed me to spend that much time as a lonely durn forner on an American site? The initial motivation was purely vintage Porsche passion. Trying to pick up as much technical know how as possible. Spent hours reading most technical threads.

Then I discovered Off Topic.

As I am still a complete novice on the tech front, I have naturally posted much more on OT. I have not had any issues with my own Carrera and I have very little to contribute for others on technical subjects.

Off Topic is of course a paramount source for discussing pretty much all things known to man - and then some. You guys have together accumulated an immense volume of knowledge and life experience. Your are nice, generous and funny. No wonder I stick around.

But there must be hundreds or thousands of similar forums in Swedish. I have looked and tried, but nothing beats Pelican. Not by a long shot. Despite the language issue. Some of you may think I write half decent in English, but the difference in expressing one self in a non-native language is enormous. All the nuances are lost, I miss out on jokes and I am supremely frustrated many times when its painfully obvious that I can not express exactly how I mean.

Still. Here I am. 5.91 posts per day 4 years running. At the end of the day, maybe that says more about you than about me.

Thanks.

And I bet you are a better man for posting 5.91 posts a day....look at all you have learned and shared with your world wide friends. Oh and congrats on your new home.

Are you trying to make a point here?

Not sure I really understand what you're saying.

Seriously Livi, you do just fine.

I'm embarrassed to say your english and ability to express yourself using it is far superior to some of our native board members.

And your occasional faux pas make us laugh with you, not at you.

I detest odd numbers (like 911).

Try and step it up to 6.0.

I am mostly a lurker. Markus you are one of the frequent posters I enjoy reading. I am glad you post.

BTW - I REALLY need to step up my game as I am probably rated at days per post not posts per day

Just checked - 0.14 posts per day - that is sad!

We are like a dysfunctional family. We spend most of our time arguing with each other, but when one of us is down or needs help with an issue we forget our differences and rally together.

I'm amazed how often my wife tells me about the latest breaking news, and my answer is "Yeah, heard about it on Pelican".

I truely enjoy the exchange of ideas here. Sure, many threads end up with sophomoric name calling, usually by the handful of sophomoric posters than are incapable of independent thought. But overall, we've got a bunch of intelligent people, who can have an actual conversation.

This is a great place to hang out. And my totally stock targa goes 165mph because of the electric supercharger.

Thanks Markus...

For the epic arguments.

I also learned what a fluffer is.

I like this board, in that, it gives me a look into what is important to people.
Many topics are considered and many points of view are expressed.
I like that.

It's the only OT board I frequent.

i tried local forums too, and although i occasionally visit them... i generally am dissappointed... the technical level is usually low, (exception being 944 forum in NL, a couple of knowledgable folks there), And the moderators are border line nazi's... the general forum members tend to be garage queen, shop maintained...
"mfi ? black magic ! you need to pay a specialist to look into that"
or other nonsense like that...

the only reason i still hook up with those forums, is if i need to sell or buy some stuff...since it's local...

the general mentality ain't as fun as here with you ahmerikhuns (now don't you go walkin beside your shoes!! )
