Yeah, when I went to H.S. I had woodshop, electrical shop, foundry and machine shop. Now my old H.S. is a college Prep School and all the shop courses have been eliminated.
So you mean to tell me you NEVER meet a stupid person? What about the motorcyclist that was killed because he was riding down a street at over 100mph and ran into the side of a car, was that an accident or was that a stupid person? Last edited by ruf-porsche; 01-16-2009 at 07:16 AM.. |

man I had a shop class- not in high school even, but in 8th grade!. I don't know about table saws, but we used frequently drill presses, sheet metal brakes, band saws (big assed band saws), scroll saws, and some other stuff. I had to build a tool box using folded up flat steel sheet riveted together. Now that I think about it, that was so awesome as far a 8th grade went...

Actually, this product (technology) ALLOWS shop classes to continue. Many of their customers are school districts that are updating their table saws to this product line.

I have no case against offering every student a well-rounded education. However, I include music, art and industrial arts in a well-rounded educational background. That's where the current educational philosophy and I differ. Sherwood |

The fact that our society now has to be allowed to still teach basic shop skills to today's youth bothers me to the core. Oh well, I guess kids today would rather spend every second of free time on Facebook, sending text messages or playing video games anyhow.

Can you rephrase that? I'm a little unclear on what bothers you - teaching basic shop skills? Thanks, Sherwood |

i still think it would be a much better design and sell if the stopper didnt get destroyed every time. If a hair on your finger sets it off how often does it set off accidently? What if your cutting a wet piece of wood or somthing with higher "conductivity" and goes off. Id be royally pissed

I think it is BS that schools would be required to purchase this guys product in order to keep their shop clas programs intact (which is what it seemed like the guy I was responding to implied). Of course in today's society, if some kid cuts his finger, the school will get sued because they did not buy the latest whiz bang safety equipment.
