OMG! when was the last time you tasted jar baby food?
arrggh! some idiot brought a bunch of baby food leftovers to hand out to the parents in our office. well, some of us grabbed the "roast beef" gerbers, and came up with ridiculous bets on things just to find a loser to eat it. we never settled on a proper wager, so we just did a comaradarie blood brothers type of thing and everyone dipped a spoon. WTF are you people feeding our kids? i swear it tasted like catfood smells..
i feel woozy. cliff

Funny you bring this up, I had some baby food a couple of weeks ago. I needed a few small bottles to store some paint in, so the boy and I went and got some baby food.
Before tossing the food out, we of course dared each other to take big bites (some were chicken dinner, others were chicken and veggie dinner, Gerber brand). It didn't taste at all like what cat food smells like. In fact, the thing that was most striking was it had almost no taste at all. No sugar, no salt, no seasoning of any kind. Just a bland paste. |

It's made that way as kids don't like or can digest strong spices. When I was a kid, I hated garlic and couldn't stand pepper.

You might wanna check the date on it. Seriously.
That's what it's supposed to taste like, Cliff. And it shouldn't make you feel woozy.

When my kids used to spit out baby food, I really couldn't blame them. Funny how quick they change, my 18 mo old daughter loves chips and salsa.

the "meat" baby foods are not fit for human consumption. my son is thankfully just about done with them, but even fresh, they taste like crap. my daughter would never eat any of the meat baby foods, but my son will eat damn near anything you put in front of him. the fruits aren't too bad, but some of the veggie combos out there are almost worse than the meats. spinach and potato - WTF?

We weren't really "into" feeding much baby food. Mostly just squished up and unseasoned "big people" food starting with applesauce, then oatmeal, etc. Real simple stuff, then more complex as they got older.
But - if you are going to eat babyfood yourself, try Gerber "Hawaiian Delight" or most anything with Banana in it. Ummm... Good stuff - a bite for baby, a bite for me, bite for baby, two for me... ![]() angela

Oh, the Gerber graduates yogurt melts, mixed berry flavor. I could eat the whole bag, but man they are expensive.
![]() The rest of the foods are not that bad. Use within 24hrs after opening as most do not have preservatives in them. The meats reminded me of potted meat, just not as tasty. ![]()

We ground table food for our kids. That was quite a while ago, I smelled baby food once it did smell like cat food. Yikes !
We were pretty lucky our kids would eat anything we would give them. Now they will try anything, one daughter is a big sushi fan now.

My son will be 9 months old next week, and we haven't fed him anything from a jar...yuk! I can't stand the taste of sauces or other food sold in a jar for adult consumption...feeding my baby something ground up and perserved by some corporation was out of the question.
Luckily my wife was on the ball, and geared up for home made baby food. We bought fresh vegetables and fruits and made our own with a blender. We froze it in ice cube trays and thawed what we needed. We're just now moving to meats and dairy products...and doing the same with meats mixed with formula. The little guy loves it....'cept he's not a fan of blue berries...the faces he makes. LOL! |

They don't llike it. As soon as he (now one year old) had a teste of regular food, he wouldn't eat it anymore.
