How is it going Kathy?
Do you have an update on your situation? I'm hoping it worked out for you! |
Now that's awesome!!!!
Only end it with "We're all pulling for you!!" and cc the entire office. angela |
I knew this was a woman half a sentence in.
Best is to ignore. No reply. I strongly recommend not to post any of it in the office. Do not even give a hint that this touched you in any way. People like this will not make friends in the long term. Not with their boss either. Usually they will be laid off or moved in the mid term. If you engage in their behavior, you will let yourself down to their level. Nobody wants such drama in their work place - a senior manager may choose to break up or eliminate the entire group of people that does not get along. George |
Kathy's (VroomGrl) been MIA for a week since this post?
|
This is a personal attack and IMO very inappropriate. I would take it up with your direct supervisor and demand a sit down.
|
Vroomgrl, I suspect that her memo could constitute harassment. Yes? No?
|
i can relate. im an attorney too. while ive never received anything as harshly nasty as that, ive received some really really crappy ones. usually, i respond by getting up, going outside, having a smoke. i then curse the person that wrote it and wish cancer upon them...seriously :-)
i dont know what else to say. i know in my own experience that the writings that i have had harshly criticized were in my opinion, far better than anything ive read of his........working for other attorneys can be a sickening experience....excluding myself of course, i find many to be extremely arrogant, egotistical, anal, boring, close-minded and just plain old mean i think the only way to be happy is to work for yourself. until that time, take pride in what you do and be the better person. go ask him/her to have a discussion...you need a sit-down...stay calm...its only a job $$$... until something better comes along, stay calm |
find a stray cat................give it some EX-LAX. place said cat in her car! let nature take its course. then.................................
get a toy squirt gun, walk into her office, point it at her head................and squirt her. then tell her shes a freeking freekazoid TWIT and to get her malingering ass in gear! |
I got a somewhat similar note from my male boss last week in response to my weekly report. He complained that my reports were too informal and conversational and needed to be written in a formal business tone. Then he sent me his edited version of what I sent him. I didn't bother asking if he wanted me to include his spelling and grammatical errors in my next report. It's especially insulting when someone complains about something, tries to improve it and really makes it worse.

Seduce her husband. That'll teach her.:D
|
i am a horrible typist. i have to triple read my outgoing stuff.
was the original doc, riddled with errors? the response was HARSH! wow. |

Biotch continues to make crazy demands and send stupid emails. Then she goes all Sybill on the phone and is completely solicitous and drippy sweet. PUKE. I did not send any reply to the email, nor have I mentioned it in any subsequent conversation. My immediate supervisor received a copy of the original. I have removed the posters from my wall :) My plan is to deal with the underlying issues (most of which have nothing to do with my actual work) and just file all this petty crap away for possible later use. Seduce her husband? Now there's an idea. But there is no husband or significant other of any variety as far as anybody knows. Tell me how surprised you are! |

vgirl,
how dare you posted my email in public... get your xxxx in here right now. sign: your sup Quote:

holy cow you guys are a bunch of pansies!
maybe our girl did a crap job. has anyone considered that? she's getting paid to do work and you all think the person in charge of reviewing her work has no right to call b.s.? guess if it's not your money paying her salary it doesn't matter. |
and btw if any of my staff responded to me with something like 'my work speaks for itself. so does yours' they would be shown the door immediately.

BTW, nice job attacking the thread starter when you have 0 evidence she did anything wrong. |
if someone is calling out a subordinate in that way, the calling out should be at a minimum error free
and there are more constructive ways to persuade an employee than to call them out that way. good luck! SmileWavy |
my pile of evidence that she did something wrong is as big as your pile that shows she wrote a good brief.
a top quality staff person would have responded immediately in the fashion Don suggested. |

So you screw up, get called on it and your response will be to spell check? Wow people. |

Generally speaking, when exhorting an employee to act more professionally it is not good form to do so in poorly punctuated woefully spelled text. You agree? |

best cpa i ever worked with was a horrible writer. his writing looked like it was written by a 12yr old. but damned if his stuff isn't tight as a drum. nobody but nobody i have worked with before or since does a better job.
the point is the person in charge said the work was crap. responding with 'well your note was poorly written and contained errors' is childish. and btw these folks get paid for the product they put out, not for inter-office emails. who gives a darn if sup took time to correct her email? |

Using spell check is fast, easy, and can really help you to not come across as an illiterate moron. Besides the military the most employees i've ever had at one time was 3, so i'm hardly an expert, but IME you have to set the example for them to follow. If your example is petty, poorly spelled personal attacks then how can you expect your employees to take the high road when you didn't? Sure, you can just fire them, but good help is HARD to find. |

what is petty about not being happy with the work she did?
petty is 'i don't like the blue paperclip you used'. |
I gave you my opinion. Shrug.
|
and the only personal attacks i've seen are 'bi-polar' and 'damn women' type stuff on this thread. sup didn't call her fat or ugly or such things. she said she should be embarassed by the work she submitted.
that is not a personal attack. it's not terribly professional and marching right into sup's office with the email and a 'hey that was a bit rough but how about some specifics so i can get you what you want' would've shown our girl to be the more mature person. but not necessarily the better atty. |

One day my webmaster calls me over and asks my advice on an email he had just received. It said, the that's it, one word. |

it's a personal comment. didn't say it wasn't justified.

Seduce her, then file a sexual harassment suit? Dammit, there's only one way to solve this problem, and it starts with seduction.:p
|
Glad to hear you're doing OK.
Enjoying life..... NOW that's the secret! Cheers, |
Take a look at the work you submitted with a fresh pair of eyes. Try and read it from this supervisors perspective and ask yourself if she has any justification for her position. She may have a point that your work was not up to standard, she may have explained the assignment badly or she may be totally or partly wrong. Then, decide how you should react.

The author sent me a PM with more details. Based on what she told me her supervisor has some issues that go far beyond her relationship with Vrroomgirl.

They all do snipe.
