No Reply - Cars For Sale Question

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=451803

Why were some people able to reply to this ad?

Don't know but that's the nicest 944 I have ever seen.

"washed by hand after every drive" I actually believe it. That car was a job, not a hobby. No wonder he wants out. Too much work to keep a car looking like that.

I agree about the car. Obviously no one is going to say it's a piece is $hit, which is why replies got banned.

But I can't reply to that ad....not that I want to.

Is Jason Cullen behind this? Or Snowman?

I replied and didn't even think about that.

It won't let me reply now. I think it was in another section and got moved. I can't remember if that was it, though.

Maybe it got from an area that allows replies. But I am pretty sure I saw that same ad a while ago in the 'Used Car' section, now it shows as being posted 'Yesterday'.

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
It was originally posted in "911 Tech Forum", and got moved by a mod after a few replies.

It was in 944 tech for awhile and then in 944 parts. That's probably where the replies came from

The replies came form another forum. Case closed.

He was spamming his ad on other forums to try to draw more attention to it (spam works!).

I was bummed when they put in the "no replies" rule. Cars for Sale was a great source of entertainment, a real hidden gem.

And here is what the car is actually worth, whatever this auction ends at:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=200298066481

Widely advertised on all of the appropriate car forums, (even spammed), with links to eBay listing, + anyone looking for a nice 951 would have to check eBay since nice ones are rare and they usually wind up there. I'm sure that someone will chime in with the usual denials, that it's really worth much more if only we could turn the calendar back the 1993 or someone came down from Mars looking for a nice modified 944 in white, (these are about as logical as some replies on car valuation threads), I also miss the extremely entertaining feedback on "for sale" ads when it was allowed.

My personal pet peeve are car ads where you have to read through a fking 20k word novel to find the pertinent info that it has never had collision damage "that I know of", and does not have LSD, etc... Easy to miss that stuff in the long-winded treatise.

A nice car but the market for $20k 1987 944 turbos is limited to Saddam and his sons and they're all dead.

Nice 944...but with an $18K reserve, I believe he'll be keeping the car.

Just more proof that a car should be DRIVEN. Its a mass produced car not piece of art.

That depends on the model...some are collectable, some not. 944 isn't high on the collector's list. When I "sold" my old beater, I had a list of potential next owners to choose from.

He's gotta be burning through that paint pretty good by now if he washes and waxes it every time he drives it (which, by the way, is only around a block a few times).

I should let him borrow my 911 for a while, maybe he could take the 30 year old paint off, and save me the cost of getting it blasted

In this economy he'll be lucky to get $15k.

Beautiful car though.

Some people are just in denial about the economy.

Ask GWB.

If it wasn't so bad I'll be LOL.
