About to get a SIG 1911.

I'm trading my refinished HK P7PSP for a Commander-clone SIG. These P7's are quite an anomaly in market economics. They're no longer made, super high quality and the prices are dropping. The German police turn-ins are flooding the U.S. So I found a guy who wants to do an even trade. See below.

http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProductDetails.aspx?categoryid=25&productid=133

I really want a Series 70 Commander, but they're north of $1000 now. The one I helped my mom pick out for my dad for Xmas when I was six was $150 back then. I'll inherit that one, so I can settle for a clone until then.

why not an hk usp compact .45 tactical mit der threaded barrel??????mmmmmm yummy. gun show today. chucky sonic may spring big bucks for a hk sp-89 and sit on that sucker until some moron is dying for a host to build his mp-5k and pay me da big bucks.

younger spawn and i are going maybe around 10am.

mission today: all hk foo foo parts for all platforms i own. if i can get it today i will save freight big time.

since i saw this crap coming a while back i have been grabbing what i can since we got drawn for elk last may. spare mags/clips/firing pins/ammo/ etc.

will be biz as usual around my dump while the naysayers get screwed big time by the anti gunner dimmycrats.
hahahahahahahahahahaha

have spent some seriass bucks on upgrades and backups but its been fun as hell. general rule of thumb.............each pistol gets 7 mags as backup and of course they are all evil hi-caps where possible.

black evil thangs.........well lets say im up to around 40 someodd hk-91 20 rounders now and god knows how many m-14 mags. surprising only price jump big time has been usgi m-14 mags they have jumped alot. all other hi caps seem to be holding for now.

i got screwed big time on timing with the clinton ban, IT AINT HAPPENING A SECOND TIME!

call me if ya wanna go today 602 558-1987

Nice piece Rick, i didn't even know Sig made 1911 clones now.

I used to have a .45 Springfield "Champion" (commander), i really liked it.

that sig is nice, check out the kimber compacts. lapd detectives sat down and redesigned kimbers compact for themselves. lots of innovation.

my kid wants the usp compact .45 mit der threaded barrel for future suppressor acquisition. hes 6 months away from his ccw and being 21. dad may spring for it and "hold it" for him til then. read that "hold it" and shoot the SNOT OUTTA IT! until he turns 21! "thanks son.........that was fun! its broken in now!"

I don't really dig the Kimbers, but i haven't handled one in quite a few years- perhaps i'd like them now. Haven't really followed the new gun scene since about 2000. I have one that i am quite fond of, that works very well.

I love the HK P7's, and have toyed about the idea of tracking down one of the German trade ins, but so far i've resisted the urge.

check out the new kimber line. yummy stuff. cdnn.com has some of those P7's. at least at last look. the contact at cdnn is marshall. ask for him. great guy to deal with over phone. they lak me alot . they lak my credit card alot also. quick shipping and all the mags/clips i have bought have been in perfect shape.

problem with older hk's.............spendy on the mags. ask me how i know???? with purchasing HK4 and HK P9S in .45 you will choke at what some want for mags. $100 bucks some have been asking for p9s .45 mags. yikes. i have bought 6 so far 3 and then 3 for 50 bucks apiece.

p9s .45 mags getting really really rare now. p9s in 9mm starting to climb also.

i got some hk usp compact 9mm 13 leo mags from cdnn new in hk bag for 38 bucks. i was happy with that as well as some factory berretta m-9 15 rd mags usgi sand resistant phosphated for 15 bucks and some factory 15 rd mags blue italian made for 27 bucks.

Kimbers rock. I'd take another look. Outstanding quality. Bought one of their 4" models last November. Took it home, lub'ed it up, and put over 300 rounds through it. It is more accurate than I'll ever be and not one failure of any type.

My sister bought a house (a state out west ) and found a box hidden in the heat duct with 2 Colts - one pieced together (but still nice) WWII 45 and one perfect series 70 Commander. She sent them to my Dad who collects. I thought I might end up with it someday as I had expressed the same sentiment as you about the series 70 45s. He sold it. Very frustrating as I would have bought it for the $650 he got about 2 years ago.

Thanks Charles. Can't go to the gun show. The prices there are just insulting and I don't have the cash after my big vacation to splurge. Nowadays, those ugn shows are only good for the private party deals out front.

Kimber has been having QC issues recently. I don't know enough about them to know what build dates or serail numbers to avoid. I think most newer HK's are simply not worth what they cost. They are nice, but I think SIG are a better buy.

Kimber got the build quality control issue under control, and their customer service is top notch. My Kimber is of a much higher quality than my Para Ord.

Just got it. Very nice gun, looks unfired and uncarried. Now I need to do something about the short grip. It's about the size of an Officer's model and I think I need a magwell to cover up the 8-rd. mags and give me some more grip.

That's why they made the Commander. Not being a smart ass but why didn't you just get full size 1911 frame. Sig doesn't make one?

I ordered an HK USP 40 Compact direct from them through the airline pilot program. They offer the USP 40 Compact with the LE trigger. ..Same model as the FFDO's carry. Gun, two mags, night sights for $495, shipping included. should be here in a week or two. ...pretty stoked.

No, I think this one is shorter than a Commander. My dad's Commander feels a lot more comfortable in my hand than this one. I think this one could become a nice CCW piece though. My ful size 1911 is a little long for that, so I only use it for open carry on the bike. I'll probably get to the range tomorrow to try this thing out. Some kind of mag well or mag butt plate will make this right.

Got it. That would be awkward. The way it is a Commander hits me above the pinky line as drawn straight back. Not my favorite target gun, but great for carry.

The Commander had a short slide with full size grip. It's the officers that has the shorter grip.

I agree with Rick, the 7 rd Officers frame is too short, i had one.

I stand corrected. I've been out of the gun loop about 15 years now. They're all starting to blend.

The last large bore I had was a series 80 Stainless Officers. Nice but weighed a ton.
