"Chasing Classic Cars"

I've been watching a few episodes of this show and it's been entertaining. This guy who's been in the high-end collector car business for years buys and sells all kinds of fun stuff. On DirecTV, the show is on channel 281. On November 25th there's an episode on Porsches...

Good show. I liked the one with all the old Jags and such stuffed away on the farm.

Great show. Just saw an episode where some rich dude buys back his daytona spyder from the seventies. Drops a mill and it needs a total resto. Must be an interesting life

I've just saw that show too. The guy who bought the Daytona seemed like a real interesting guy!

The show seems pretty cool and I have started recording it. We'll see how the show progresses over the next few weeks to see if it retains a coveted spot in my DVR!

Yup- too many reruns and not enough new content. I do enjoy watching.

The guy that bought the Daytona was Herb Chambers. How about his "estate" with the heli-pad? Nice garages too.

I bet someone on here knows Wayne the owner of F40 Motorsports, the guy the show is centered around. I like Wayne- unlike a Boyd Coddington he just seems like a real car guy out there trying to make a living.

Yeah, I wonder how much he'd charge to find an elusive "rust free" 914!

I like the fact that this is new and the guy has stayed in his shoes. Hope that the cameras don't turn him into an a-hole if he is just a regular car guy. What I like is that he will go get a couple of normal cars, clean them up and turn them at actions. I saw one where he had a couple of early VW Bugs that he paid good money for, very clean cars and just took them to auction to make a few bucks with them. I'll continue to watch until it goes to his head like Boyd, Foose and the camera hounds at Orange Co. Choppers.
Couple of cool cars for sale on his site.

Anyone catch the Porsche episode. He showed up for "Cars and Coffee" at Irvine. Seems someone would of noticed from this board. He talked to some Car designer that drives a cool 356 Coupe with a black top. Really appreciated the love affair owners have with their cars.

All:

I don't have that channel, and couldn't find it on YouTube. Any ideas where I can find it?

Thanks,

Paul.

I saw the Porsche 911 episode. It was cool. The 356 was a speedster, and the owner was a head designer for Ford.

It is pretty cool, although wanted $75K for the 1965 911 on eBay might have been pushing it.

It is on HD Theater on Comcast.

Sounds like the designer they are talking about is Freeman Thomas...credited along with Jay Mays for designing the New Beetle and the Audi TT. Freeman is a certified Porsche nut (multi car owner), and is co-founder of the RGruppe.

Here's the cars he's credited with:
Volkswagen New Beetle
Audi TT
Audi A4
Audi A6
Chrysler Pacifica
Dodge Super 8 Hemi concept
Jeep Willys concept
Dodge Sling Shot concept
Jeep Rescue concept
Dodge Tomahawk concept motorcycle (with Viper V10 engine)
With Ralph Gilles
Chrysler 300
Dodge Magnum
Dodge Charger

Yes, that's him. Looking at the list of cars he's worked on, I can't say they've all turned out to be winners though.

I was going nuts... Carini kept calling it a "Poorsch." His 75K was a little crazy for that 911, and it's still for sale on is website.

Neat show, but after being around the collector car auction environment for a while, the validity of most bids (sale price vs. actual sale price) leaves me skeptical.

I saw it too - I liked it - it was Freeman Thomas at cars and coffee. Guy seemed like a regular guy. The early 911 sure shined up nicely.

I had one dealing with Wayne about 10 years ago. He represented a 1971 911E as being "near perfect" with a price that indicated it must be. I drove the 125 miles to inspect it and it turned out to be a turd of a car. Poor paint over terminal rust with over spray all over the place. I turned around and drove home doing a slow burn. I called him when I got home and told him I thought he totally wasted my time and didn't describe the car honestly, to which he replied "so what?" Just another bad used car dealer in my book.

Confirms what I suspected. He seems to be a flipper.
