How about diet? ? Could be the food intake or lack ther of. Interesting articles on Omega 3's recently. The first is long but basically says the Western diet has had its natural Omega 3's purged from corn fed beef, cattle and farmed fish:

Dennis, thanks for your post. I will see a doc only because I haven't for a long time AFA a check up is concerned. If I do have stress related symptoms, it's because there is too much crap around here. I sold off some things over the weekend, but not nearly enough.

I dragged out 24 plastic crates used normally for auto parts shipping (large) for holiday decorations and got them stored back by the 3rd weekend last month. That alone would kill either of her grown kids or nephews, etc. I told her we were hiring someone next year or leaving town, her choice. We'll see if we have finances for ether.

When one has to do yard work, clean house, do laundry, work and fix meals, it's just a lot. I do this because my wife has the 9 to 5 and I don't. I started doing all this when she was laid up and never quit. Well, I never needed anyone to wait on me, not my style.

I get tired easily, but I have good wind (I've never smoked).

You'll realize that your 'head' has much more to do with it than you think right now. Maybe in a couple of days, maybe tomorrow, whatever, you'll have a good day- clarity of mind, motivation, feeling fit and flexible. What changed to make you feel like that? Was it your diet, the weather, did you see a flower that put you in a good mood? No, you just had a different perspective and mindset.

Call it depression call it old age call it being burned out. You are in control of your mind so make it do what you want it to do (easier said than done, I know...).

Adderal is AWESOME for putting me in a productive mood! If anyone has some sitting around that needs a good home, just PM!

coffe makes me tired. i want to take a nap right after it kicks in. have the doc check your testosterone level. a patch may liven you up.

Zeke 02-03-2009 04:46 PM

JW, I could live w/o coffee. I drink several ounces in the morning, not a few cups. But, I tried drinking 2 small (like donut shop small) cups this morning and it was like nothing. Just something to get the morning bowels going. I could do that with green tea. That will be my beverage of choice tomorrow with some honey.

I've heard a lot of things about getting headaches when putting down coffee. I can take it or leave it and I might just leave it.

It's call getting old. Your metabolism is not like a 30 or 40 y.o. The problem is we are living longer be we are not living better. I watch my parents get old and if I had my choice once life is not worth living I wish I can just leave, no lingering around for me, I want to see what after this life.

Gogar 02-03-2009 04:58 PM

Drink Water.

Lots and Lots of Water.

Like, around a gallon a day.

If you haven't been drinking water, You'll lose 5 pounds in the first week or two.

You'll get your coffee buzz back too and it will last longer.

Zeke 02-03-2009 05:11 PM

I take a case of bottled water with me in the truck everywhere I go. I drink a fair amount. No sodas at lunch or during the day unless I'm home (which is a lot anymore). I'll try to set out some water next to the 914 tomorrow. Out of sight, out of mind.

No alcohol (yet ;)) today, but I just finished eating a big salad, half spinach, oil and vinegar dressing. Over the years I felt that if my spinach intake was up, I had less aches and pains. I mean I could eat greens until I was green, but spinach made a difference. I used to live on salads. Maybe ol' Popeye knew something.

It could also be something fairly easy to fix. I had the same problem starting about a year ago. Turns out I have a vitamin B-12 deficiency. Discovered by doing a blood test. I get a B-12 shot once a month. I can tell when it is starting to wear off and need another. I start getting run down and tired again. Even my wife notices the difference. A day or so after I get the shot I feel like all my energy has come back.

Zeke 02-03-2009 05:46 PM

Kurt, good of you to chime in. Congrats on the new partnership. You're gonna need the B-12!!
(I took a b-12 pill today for the first time in years.) I'm feeling better already with this thread. :D

hahah true. that'll help

how about some nice pure cocaine? just kidding

i lost my energy about 5 years ago...I was 31. I blame it on smoking, drinking, no exercise, poor diet, unhappy job, sedentary lifestyle, not enough water intake, too much caffeine. i literally feel like i am dead :(

How much water are you drinking? Kick the coffee, up the water intake, get into some sort of exercise like bicycling and have happy thoughts, kick the carbs

go get a full physical and blood tests

[QUOTE=pwd72s;4462287]Bump your foot more? Hmmm...feet feel a little numbness or tingling? Balance problems, just minor ones?

What are you thinking? please tell.

I had a small stroke 2 sundays ago during my sleep. 6 days early, they let me out of the hospital. Now I've got balance problems and numbness on my left leg. They can't find what caused the clod. I am 40 don't drinkor (OK, a beer for lunch or dinner once every 2 weeks) smoke. I do about 1 1/2 pot of strong coffee daily. I cut coffee off completely for about a week now, I haven't seen any benefits yet. My wife wouldn't let me drive. That might be a good thing for a bit. I am going nuts. I don't do TV or internet(No more then 20-30 minutes). I am a contractor in the middle of a couple good size remodels. I love the 10-12 hour days, and really enjoy the stress. in the past few days, I come to grip that I have to slow down for my kids. Yesterday was my first visit to my job site. This morning, I just didn't want to go anymore. Maybe one of my workman had to drive me. Tomorrow, I will start the 930 and we'll see how it goes.

Milt,

my plumber, age 44, went through a period or crazy work load and made a whole bunch of money. Then the slow down (we both agree that it was a good thing for a small rest period). By the 2nd week, he had a breakdown on the side of the freeway. He can't even hang on to the steering wheel and broke out in sweat and started to cry. He checked out OK with his doc and they found nothing. and it happened again 3 week later. We all think that he just doesn't know what the heck to do with slower, free time.

Do you want to work? Is it the size or the type of the job that cause you to not want to go? 4:30 or 5:00 in the truck is crazy. I am so done with that. I don't get to my job until 8 or 8:30 if I didn't have to teach. good luck to you. maybe you will feel better in a few weeks.

We work our butts off for thirty or fourty years, and it makes us feel needed and useful. In the end though, we haven't got a life. I like it here, but it is my substitute for social interaction. We don't hear the laughs or see the smiles, we get a little critisism and wonder if we are needed or even wanted. FWIW, you are needed and wanted here.

I would see about the check up and the supplements, but I think what you really need is to see and be seen. If you went to a gym or took up yoga, you would soon find that people like to see you. You might also find that you like to see people.

We all would like to feel useful and especially needed, and we want to be loved. Even more important, we want to FEEL love in our hearts, welling up and pouring out. That is the warm spark you are missing. Social interaction, community activity, or even a raising a pup would help get that spark going.

Once the spark is out, it is easy to sit in a chair, easy to be bored with TV, and hard to reach out. But that's not where the fun is. If you had a 16 year old with a Miata in your driveway and tons of desire, you know you would be out there at 7 AM Saturday morning. You know you would be almost as excited as he would be when you started that engine for the first time, and took that first ride. You would be totally happy experiencing life from someone else's viewpoint.

I think you just need something other than yourself to relate to, and for whatever reason, you aren't getting it at home. That's OK, but you need to get it somewhere. Bu8t first things first. Go see that Doctor, and start acting like you are worth it.

You ARE.

Look 171, Paul was inferring MS. He knows about MS, although it's not he that is afflicted.

Sounds like you and I should hook up. We could swap stories about all the goofy customers and probably howl are asses off. I'll start it right here about all the dog crap I've stepped around and stepped in. If you know I'm coming, pick it up. In the last couple of years I've been known to step in it on purpose just before going into the house. It's usually picked up the next time I go to that job. :)

There, that makes me feel pretty good!

911Rob 02-04-2009 10:00 AM

Right on! Glad you're feeling better. ;)

Go out and do something that just makes you happy, even if it is the dog crap boot skootin boogy!

After reading a few posts, it's quite clear to me that Milt is dealing with a bout of depression...

Many ways to cope with that. And it's okay to feel sad/bad/unmotivated/energy-less, sometimes. But if it's long term, yadda yadda.... look into depression. And just because you do not have any logical 'reason' to be depressed, you are depressed, and it should be addressed if it's going on for a long while and impacting the quality of your life.

+1 on getting a full blood test.

On us old dogs some of our innards don't work as well as the used to do.

I go in twice a year and get my blood drawn then sit down with a nurse practitioner where she gets out a three page print out with a bunch of big words and numbers in little print... she then circles and underlines numbers and says this is good... that is bad... until I feel like I'm getting my moneys worth.

She then tells me I'm OK but to do more good stuff and less bad stuff and refills/tweaks my prescriptions (for high blood sugar).

Oh and If you need a project you can have my 944.;)

That happened to me before. I'm glad you brought it up because I do need a new muffler. When I replaced the thing last time it made a huge difference. They don't seem to last forever, huh?
