Who Wanted a Lotus Europa??

Who was interested in a Lotus Europa project?? Looks like one is coming, and it is pretty cheap, a good track car project.

I think that was me. More wondering what they were like than wanting one.

My 964 seems to be a full time job right now...

I thought Europas were to fragile to be good track cars. Am I wrong?

That's uglier than a 914 - and that means something!

Great looking Europa, smg911... I'm sure you don't pay attention to the naysayers... they wouldn't understand.

Hey, George, looks ain't everything, you know. Lotus Sevens aren't necessarily the most beautiful thing on four wheels either, but they're fast and light and a ton of fun to drive... likewise with Europas.

Some research for the Europa fan:

http://www.davebean.com/

I knew some guys associated with Dave Bean. Their shop was located in El Segundo, down the road from Pelican Parts. They set up all sorts of Lotus race cars, including Elan and Cortina race cars.

More research:

My dream for an Europa is to replace the Renault engine with a BDA Formula Atlantic lump worthy of 250 or so horsepower. That would make for one ass-kicking Lotus.

While I do have issues with the looks of the aforementioned cars, my comment was in jest.

Don't you hate it when you take a picture and the 'primary target' is almost completely out of focus?

Unique ?? YES, Ugly ?? I don't think so.
The reaction to these cars by people seeing them in person is overwhelmingly positive.

I've always loved the Europa until I owned one of the early ones where the windows didn't go down .
ARRGGGG , but I would kill to own a later model twin cam.

I am interested too Byron.

A 71, was Renault powered, pretty just a chassis & body, most susp.
It is here. Looks like it would be fun with the right power train.
