Question Cell Phone Numbers Go Public next month

I was forwarded this today:

REMEMBER: Cell Phone Numbers Go Public next month.

REMINDER.... a ll cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sale calls.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS...

To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222.
It is the National DO NOT CALL list It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS.. It takes about 20 seconds.

Is this true?

Austin

It won't make any difference. I get telemarketing calls on my cell and my landline and they have been registered all along. I don't answer my phones anymore. I answer messages left that I choose to.

The reason is that the telemarketers have moved off shore and perfected false area codes displayed on your caller ID. They look like US area codes, but the call originates from somewhere else.

By circumventing what we want as citizens, the telemarketers have all but ruined private communications in the US. One would think that with the power and money of someone like AT&T, that they could do something to protect our privacy. I see how this is not in their best interest, so I live differently in order to not be annoyed.

I can tell you that in the times of no cell phones and a pay phone on every corner, we were a hell of a lot better off. You could even hear what the other person was saying. Without a delay. How novel.

I agree with ya Milt. The best cell phone is no cell phone at all. I seriously think that's the way I'm headed.

People today simply cannot comprehend that only 10 or 15 short years ago there were no cell phones and society worked just fine.
