Boycott Pier One Imports

We have been Customers for 10 Years, We had a balance owing of $29.00 for the month of February, I usually pay my bills on the 2nd or 3rd, This pier one bill was due on the first! They added a $25.00 late charge. I called assuming they would wave the late charge, since the bill was 2 days late and we have been loyal customers.
No can do, Bastards!! I have never been late on any payment my entire life!
I told them to take their Credit Card and shove it! I will never step foot in a Pier 1 ever!
They most likely will be out of business soon anyway.

Apparently, Pier 1 is owned by Chase, and it's Chase's policy never to wave late charges.
Well screw Chase, I just shredded my Chase bank cars also.
I guess the moral to this story is credit worthy people like me are paying for all the dead beats mistakes, by the way my FICO is 785.

I just told my wife that she's not to shop there anymore. She didn't buy it? Crap!

I'm guessing 2 days late is still late?

F'n Chase.
I'm still pissed about their acquisition of WaMu. I have four accounts at wamu, and I'm really not looking forward to the changeover to Chase.

Well, a late doesn't show up on your credit unless past 30 days. So, pay the damn fee and move on. But, it's not Pier One's fault, it's who they use for revolving accounts. I'd take the anger out on Chase, not P1. I like P1 for just a few things. Cool patio pillows come to mind.

Thanks for the tip on the Chase card. I have a WaMu card that is converting. I think it just got "lost." I won't ask for a replacement.

If it'd a credit card they shouldn't charge you a late fee until they close for the month. That is usually a couple weeks after the indicated due date.

I thought Pier One was already out of business. I know they closed the store near me a couple of years ago.

So do they make you pay in advance? If they changed the billing cycle they should waive the late fee.

Pier One is still a publicly traded company, ticker PIR, so unlikely owned by Chase. Judging from stock price, it is on its way out. Hope not, it is actually an inexpensive place to get some things.

Here a couple of tips: Loyalty means jack*****. These companies LOVE it when you pay late. I can't remember the numbers, but they make a large percentage of their profits from late charges alone. Your bill was late. It says it in writing. What is your argument? I really don't know of any credit cars anymore that will give you any leniency for loyalty. None. Maybe 20 years ago. I wouldn't waste your time or energy. Call to cancel the card and pay the bill. They may give you a break then. If not, cancel it any move on.

Not true, 2 times we accidently paid our Mastercard AA Advantage late, they waived the late charge/interest without an argument, maybe because I charge 3-5K every month, and pay off the balance every month.

Didn't your first post state that you "never" had a late payment. As a business owner, nothing infuriates me more then when my office manager fails to get checks out in time. My invoices sometimes run in the hundreds a month, so it just happens from shear volume. Consider yourself fortunate that they let your late payment slip a few times. I've never experienced that, even with accounts that run in $100k a year volume.

Chase does not own Pier 1 they just run the credit card side of things.

You're confusing the due date and the cycle date which are two different things. Plus all credit cards charge a late fee if you pay after the due date.

I don't get it... you paid your bill after the due date (late) and are angry because they're charging you a late fee? I may be completely misunderstanding the situation here but why didn't you just pay it before the 1st since you knew that it was due?

I've never been inside a pier one. Do they confiscate your man card on the way in?
