Weird Week, need your Prayers

Well I got a ticket. On the way to a funeral, some very bad circumstances with the death of a good friends brother.

Slipped on the ice the next day, and put some salt out, wife walks off the salt, and breaks her leg. Spend a day in the ER, all is well, take another day off a construction project to meet with an architect and a consultant. The meeting with the architect is a wash, drive another hour to the consultant, and it's a no show.

Go home to a power failure the next day. Then it's Friday. not that I am superstitious, but it was also the thirteenth. Write out the payroll checks. 1,313.00. HMM.

I was really rattled at the funeral, as it was a shotgun suicide, by a guy who had lost his job and was being evicted. Ironically, there were two job offers on his message machine.

The man's name was Danny Block. I would really appreciate it if you could say a prayer that his soul might find peace. He was a good guy, but he suffered from Bipolar disorder. If you could say a prayer for his brother Dean also, I would really appreciate it. He is my wife's doctor, and a really good man who is having a hard time coming to grips with this.

Obviously a lot of emotions to sort out there, but I have a strong belief in a higher power, and I know that our prayers are heard. I have been concentrating on my own problems as a distraction. It is time to focus on being there for others.

That is crazy. I would have hid in hole yesterday if all that stuff was just a leading up to Friday the 13th.

Been through the suicide thing before. It's not easy, no matter what the person suffered from.

God bless you and your family.

Daniel,

Prayers and good wishes for you. I lost a great friend in Iraq to suicide. Very hard. I don't think it has hit me yet. Get with friends and all and stay in touch with the degenerates on this board. We are all in a rash of trash right now, none of which is worth clocking out. I am troubled by the thought of my friend being so lonely that he felt that death was better than the pain and loneliness that he was experiencing. His death has changed the way I look at suicide, I miss him terribly and love him all the more. You take care and go do something stupid fun.

Done. It's tough times for many people right now, sorry to hear it hit home.

My week involved myself, my wife, and my two kids all getting the flu. Then I had to have my appendix removed on Wednesday (suprise!). Still, I think my week was better than yours. Take care.

Sorry to hear,

Prayers sent,

There but for the grace of God.

We were discusin this song at church a few weeks ago... I uploaded the lyric yesterday.

(Isaiah 61:1-3)
He gives beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair

When sorrow seems to surround you
When suffering hangs heavy o'er your head
Know that tomorrow brings
Wholeness and healing
God knows your need
Just believe what He said

He gives beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair

When what you've done keeps you from moving on
When fear wants to make itself at home in your heart
Know that forgiveness brings
Wholeness and healing
God knows your need
Just believe what He said

He gives beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair

I once was lost but God has found me
Though I was bound I've been set free
I've been made righteous in His sight
A display of His splendor all can see

He gives beauty for ashes
Strength for fear
Gladness for mourning
Peace for despair

Went to the wedding of a girl that I grew up with that was a bit older than I am..Her husband was a teacher who suffered from depression. Well one day she comes home and finds that he had shot himself in the head......Not once but twice, the first missed and the second didn't even finsih the job as he was still alive. He died later inthe hospital. THe girl went on to get her MD and is in practice in Newport Beach, CA. SHe and her younger sister own a Medical Building there.

So sorry to hear about this. I've actually been through similar tragedies/misfortunes and as bad as they are, when I'm in the middle of them I always think that they might as well all happen together so that good luck can resume. Sort of a "let it rain" philosophy.

I hope that this helps in some small way, you'll be in my thoughts either way. The bipolar guy is at least at peace now, if not his survivors. Suicide is brutal.

Daniel, my thoughts are with you. Your friend Dean is a lucky man to have a friend like you to help him share his burden.

Wish you and your wife better times ahead.

Lost a step-nephew to a rope and an oak tree. Troubled kid, but still a good kid. Just 26 and his whole life still ahead. Always feel like I should have talked to him more.... alas, never saw it coming.
