				Oh the things people say...

So i was driving around the other day and noticed a kid i knew was sitting in a parking lot in his 05 GTO. So i pulled up beside him, and apparently he was waiting for his friend to come out of Wal Mart. He tells me he's the one that owns the red 91 eagle talon that looks like its been through War 6 times and painted with a spray can, then tells me that it outruns him (5.7L V8) no problem. I wasn't impressed because anyone knows if you put like 2 grand in an eagle talon you can have 600 HP. Parts are ridiculously cheap because they are garbage. So i made mention of how a good beefed up 951 or 911 turbo would smoke him in a straight line anyday, just messing with him, trying to get him mad on purpose . He says "when i get this thing done you won't touch me" So i asked what he was going to do to it, and this is what he said. Not even kidding. (keep in mind he is an 18 year old high school kid, with no job. parents bought him the car) - "Twin turbo it, supercharge it, and then put twin turbos to spool my turbos" He said it Dead serious. Now i could barely keep from laughing but i asked anyhow "And how much will this cost you?" His response: "probly only about 5 grand" If you were bored enough to read this whole thing, i hope you've enjoyed it.

I was reading the local craigslist one day and an unusual ad came up in the cars section. Written in the voice of a young person, the ad explained that the submitter was a looking to purchase a 911 but had never even sat in one - just pretty much fell in love with them anyway. Before he bought one, would someone show him around the cars and take him for a ride - he would even pay for gas. You ever just get feelings about people? I picked up the phone and called. The fellow is named JJ and he, his father, and his best friend came over to our house later that afternoon. JJ was just 18 at the time. All three of them were the nicest people you could ever meet. Took him out in the cabby and in Butters (spyder was in storage). Answered a million questions, showed him what to look for on the cars, what year to buy, what to watch out for, etc. At 18 years of age, JJ had already bought and sold over 40 cars plus graduated from high school two years early. Very unassuming down-to-earth kid. He searched around on the internet and bought a 911SC from somewhere back east - maybe the Carolinas? He and his buddy boarded the plane with 14,000 cash in their carry on (oh God, the follies of youth), paid for the car and drove it home. Most 18 year old kids are ding-dongs when it comes to cars, but dang, some of them flat have it "goin' on"!!! As long as kids like JJ are around, the future of hot-rod and performance cars is golden. http://www.jjsmusclecars.com/

Also, if I recall correctly, an 05 GTO is the first year with the 6.0 LS2 engine (the earlier year was a 5.7 LS1). Got to say that the LS2 motor shoves that goat right down the road. Bone-stock this is 400 hp/400 lbs of torque, with a zero to 60 in the mid four second range. Quarter mile clicks by in the mid 13's. The kid is a dipstick with what he wants to do (and even more of a dipstick if he actually does have the displacement on his engine wrong - LOL!!). But here's the thing... For not a whole lotta cashola, an LS2 or for that matter, an LS1, can throw down 600 to 700 hp in street trim running air conditioning. If he actually had 5,000 to spend, and he spent it wisely, he could build a forced induction freak of nature that launches hard enough to register on the richter scale. Now clearly understand that I am a huge Porsche fan, but before I am that - I'm a horsepower junkie. These LS series engines kick ass and take names. Watch what you tangle up with in a straight line speed contest, and that includes hopped up EVO's and subies - LOL! angela

928s are fun. If I ever come back into money again I'd love to pick one up. You really need to shoot a more stable in-car video ya' know. That video looks like it was fun to make but it gives me seizures to watch with all the jitters.
